Sorry, but when it is "raining really hard" as you said, 60 is still to fast. Especially on the stock tires.
Are you seriously going to argue otherwise? I mean you lost control and wrecked. Not to mention the fact this is one of the reasons you got ticketed. C'mon now.
I was driving home last week in the heavy rain. Anytime I edged my speed above fifty, I could feel my car lose grip and sway slightly. So guess what I did. I slowed down and did not wreck.
Everyone makes mistakes. Most people are man enough to admit and not come up with silly excuses.

hrmph...I live in FL and don't think 60 is too fast for wet conditions on the highway but I do slow it down if the car or conditions tell me to.

I believe that you were driving safely so dont sweat these other guys telling you otherwise. That is just total random bad luck you hit that tire. Because there was debris in the road that potentially could not have been avoided, is your insurance rate still going to rise?

That sucks, painful to see the pics. I hate retreads, too dangerous in my opinion--"they" should outlaw them for the potential lethality they can cause.

Thanks. I like the OEM tires in rain. 12,000 miles is not a tire problem.

Should be an easy ticket to beat as the pig has no witnesses but you do. Make sure you give him a nasty look and even a comment or two if you wish as you leave the courtroom after making him look like a fool in front of the judge.

60 is not too fast in rain.
He hit the tire and that caused the accident.
Get off his ***. Jeez. Not every accident can be avoided.

60mph can most definitely be too fast in "heavy" rain, especially on the stock tires. If there is a lot of water on the road, it would be very easy to lose control at 60mph.
Can you say "hydroplane"?
But hey, what the hell do I know? I only have 23 years of driving experience.
I'm sure you kids know exactly what you are doing, right?

Man that drive through the mountains from Martinsburg to Hagerstown is no joke. If it aint rain its deer. When I went out there all the time driving in the snow on those roads was no fun. My Grandfather lives in Altoona, aunt and uncle right on the maryland border in mercersburg. Used to go back and forth all the time. Sorry bout the car.
