Default Base Z or not

Now that i've decided to get a Z, what are the disadvantages of getting a base model. I've found plenty of deals for just base models that are local and i could have now if i wanted, but i don't know if i should pay more for other options.

If you plan on modding or tracking the car, the Base Z is nice. It's the lightest and you're not paying more for things you'll just replace or disengage. Like the VLSD, stock wheels, or TCS. Downside would be if you liked creature comforts like HID lights and Nav, then I'd say the Base isn't going to be the best fit for you.

No cruise control is one of the most "popular" complaints. There are always base owners posting asking how they can add it (you can't). Sucks when you have to take a road trip with no CC.

go for the base, you can easily upgrade to hids, tcs youd turn off 90%of the time anyway. the only thing i miss is radio controls on the wheel.

Actually, if it's an 06+ base, you get the 18's, and HID's, but that's about it.

Personally, I didn't see any real advantages of getting a higher model, except maybe an Enthusiast, for the LSD. IMO, most of the upgrades in the higher models can probably be had for less, in the aftermarket anyway.

I've had my base for almost a year already and i have no complaints. I spent 200 bucks on hids n i installed them myself, and so i've heard that they are the best model for track use. Most of the time navigation, cruise conrtrol, and all this little extras get either replaced or you don't even use them... i say go ahead go base!!! itt's cheaper too !!!!

I have a base model and have no complaints. If you can, get a 2006. If comes with the double HID lights.

I have an 03 Base PPW...I LOVE IT!!! I use & mod my Z more and more for track and I'm really glad I got the base model now due to the overall lighter curb weight. I installed HID's myself for a couple hundred $$...if you don't mind missing CC, then base is by far and away the best way to go. Plus, the 18" wheels is no big deal as most owners will swap out for aftermarket anyways.

I love the garage controls in my enthuiast and could not live without Cruise Control. The standard base lights make it look cheap.

07 base here. I plan on modding, so i stuck with base. It all depends on what you plan to do. My 07 came with hid and 18" wheels. I dont plan on driving in wet weather conditions, and the fact that I am going to mod that made decide to go with base. + got awesome deal.
