I think its reasonable to expect to at least MEET the mileage if you drive normal. My BMW I could drive hard and still get the EPA (barely better if I babied it, it just stuck right around 19-21).

As I wrote earlier, there is only one way to accurately determine mpg.
try to keep in mind what kind of freeway your driving on. For example. Chino California to Anaheim California i can get 30MPG easy. but reverse direction its 22-23. While your driving you may not realize it but hardly any freeway especially in California is completely flat. Just the other day i noticed the elevation of the 5 freeway here in orange county is constantly uphill downhill, uphill downhill.

You clearly know nothing about the EPA test procedure. You'll get the EPA mileage if you drive on a dyno and not on road, specifically follow the EPA test schedule and then measure emissions out the tailpipe rather than gasoline usage. Afterwards, you adjust the numbers downwards by 10% for city and 22% for highway to arrive at the value that goes on the window sticker. See http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/...2003/index.htm.See http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/how_tested.shtml and http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/fe_test_schedules.shtml regarding the procedure. The new tests in the 2nd URL are new for MY 2008 and beyond. Did you know that on MY 2007 and earlier cars, the highway test's MAXIMUM speed was 60 mph and average was 48 mph?
Even w/the new tests for MY 2008 and beyond, the EPA at http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/why_differ.shtml says your mileage will STILL vary.
BTW, Consumer Reports found mpg shortfalls on 90% of vehicles they've tested per http://autos.msn.com/advice/CRArt.as...tentid=4023460.
Since people are talking about trip computer accuracy, I've found the Z's trip computer to be usually between 0-1 mpg off from manual calcuations so it's not too bad.
The trip computer was almost always 2-3 mpg too high in my former 02 Maxima, sometimes as much as 4 mpg too high. The 2-3 mpg too high trip computer on the Maxima was normal. Everyone else on maxima.org w/that generation said theirs was like that.
