Ahh.. well whatever the case... taking off the Speed limiter isn't stock but the 181mph claim had no tuning just a removed limiter... so the modded comment was still irrelavant.

FWIW you realize we don't get 'ECU' upgrades right?? You just hook up a cable to the diag port and program it with software off a laptop. You sound like you are confused.

 

Hooking up the cable to the diag port and sending the UPGRADE is a ECU upgrade. HyperTech is one company that does it.

I am definitely not confused. The car will also not reach 181 without some work done. It is talked about on the GTO forums. Most say mid 160s and there is a video that shows it now accelerating past 166 at all hardly. And that car had no limiter.

 

more hp and better aeros than an F-body and we can get into the 170s ungoverned. It's hardly a stretch...

 

yeah, the GTO definately does not reach 180 stock. But as S8ER95Z said.

Dunno about better aeros than a fbody. But I believe what the GTO owners say, 165~ is the max the car can get stock without any upgrades. They even said it on the forums.

 

So because some owners haven't been able to get above 165 means the GTO cannot go faster... Does that mean the ones who claim faster are lying?
BTW SOLO-350Z, how does your 350Z compare to a LS2GTO in the 1/4, etc?

Why is a stupid question? You are acting as if you are the defacto expert on the 350Z and GTO, yet have never owned either one.

I have owned a 350Z and know that in NA form, stock for stock, it would get stomped by a LS2GTO.

 

And guess what! You have never owned one either! So what! I know more about the 350z and G35 than you will ever know my friend. Show me some videos. data that shows it stomping a 350z stock. I am waiting. And we are talking about a 07+.

I've already read several of those threads. There are few who post about the top speeds (ungoverned) that they've achieved on an otherwise stock vehicle. Those that have give answers from anywhere (depending on LS1 or LS2) from 160mph to 180. I'm more inclined to believe (considering aerodynamics of the car, powerplant, & gearing) that the car is indeed capable of ~175 or so mph.

You on the other hand (as you have done thoughout this thread) refuse to consider anything about the GTO, except the lowest claim by any owner. Remember, it was you who stated the following;

-The GTO could barely get into the 13's and was slower than a 350Z, never mind the fact that some stock LS2 owners have dipped into the high 12's. You later changed that stating you were only referring to the LS1GTO being a high 13 second car (which you didn't specify). Then you tried to insist the GTO is in fact equal to the '07 Z at 13.3 seconds (admitting a very slight edge to the GTO). So you take the average driver reported time for a GTO against the best time reported on this site in regards to a stock '07Z. A smart person would consider average times from both vehicles, now wouldn't they?

Then in regards to the top speed of the GTO... You insist it can only go 165mph or lower (or thereabouts(with limiter removed)) because of one video showing one vehicle's top speed (all vehicles are exactly the same, I guess. Location, altitude, weather, etc. would have no bearing in your mind). You also found a thread or two with some owners claiming reported top speeds of the low-mid 160's, but ignored the ones that reported higher (afterall, they must have been lying). Am I getting this right so far?

You also portrayed yourself as a defacto expert on the capabilities of the LS1 motor (nevermind the fact that the LS2GTO does not use the LS1 motor), so you know what the car can do or not. You speak of the same type of knowledge in regards to the 350Z.

So I again ask you... How does your 350Z fare against a stock LS2 GTO? I know the 350Z I owned would not compare in regards to the 1/4, considering equivelent driver skill.

Old trick for stock times on the ls1. It loves the filter pulled. Best time? One out of onyl maybe 3 07s that have ran so far. Give it time. Even he said he could have done better than the 13.3. I guess you know everything but just can't seem to back it. Have fun ethug.

The 5 verified '07 stock times vary from 13.3 to 13.9... That puts the median time at ~13.6 seconds (using your logic in regards to the GTO)...
