Need a few pointers on a 04
Hello, I’ve recently sold my 1997 240sx for $9.3k and now I’m in the market for a 350z. I’ve been searching this forum for quite some time now and I’ve noticed a few issues among the 03-04.
I recently came across a 04 350z 6spd w/60k miles asking $14k. I’m not too sure which model it is, but the owner told me it’s a standard model (I assume it’s a regular base). Can you give me a few pointers to look out for? I am heading out there this weekend to check out the car and is there anything I should be aware of, or look into such as tire feathering and a few other common issues?

yeah the price is right, he is even taking offers... told me he needs to sell quick. If all goes through, I probably wont do much to the motor, just a nice DD with nice shoes and suspension.
Anything I should look out for while test driving?

Im not trying to be a dick and could careless what model it is... All Im asking for is a little help and advise.... How can I tell if the car is having tire feathering problems? And is there any other common issues I should look out for?

Ask the owner if he has done the free alignment and tires for the tire feathering issue as well as the recall for the gas tank filler hoses. That's the one where the supplier to NISSAN made brittle hoses. Make sure it has NISSAN Oil Filter on before you take in for any work or they will void your engine drivetrain war .... maybe..
If he say no.... not a problem buy it cheap....and take it in for the recalls and free tires / alignment.
I didn't even see the problems with mine....Nissan spoted or mailed me a come in notice.... This car has been great out of the box and to this day.

Good luck .... ;-)

THanks bro, just what I needed
No problem ... Great cars... I have owned 9-10 NISSAN's and I have been extremely happy with them all. Dad was a FORD exec. Those aren't BAD cars NISSAN is just way more refined.
Enjoy the ride.... BTW on seventh Z now... 200K on a couple of them mlike this one. Still ran great the day I sold it. Wife just wanted a update :-)
I was more than happy to comply;

At 60,000 miles it's beyond warranty so check it out top to bottom and do the usual, have it inspected by a mechanic, run a Carfax, ask the guy to provide invoices/receipts for service, etc.
An easy way to tell if it's a Base model is that there is no cruise control and therefore no cruise control buttons on the steering wheel.
Good luck and, yes, that sounds like a good deal.

I got a "base" with 31K miles and free tires and a 100K warranty from the dealer for $18,700. The warranty is around $800 to have it extended and tires are I dunno how much? So figure 18,500 or so.
