I bought the base because I don't really think I need the extra's they offer...Audio system will be replaced (no need for the crappy Bose) , plan on putting a aftermarket LSD in soon, never use Cruise Control, etc..I have always thought that a sports car is supposed to be just a bare minimum when it comes to extra's...I wanted the new engine and loved the styling of the car..When it comes to TC...As long as you don't drive stupid there is no real reason to have unless it's rainy all the time where you live..

its a viscous limited slip, doesnt do much. besides you have damn TCS/VDC, which will rain on your parade when you're having fun at the limits of the cars ability.

Just food for thought when choosing a model. I would only choose a base if I was building a track car...
and that is true, there were several times ive almost lost it where VDC wouldve made life easier, but if you pay attention & react quickly enough you dont need VDC, only thing i wish i got was track brembos.

i dont regret getting a base at all. things like the steering wheel controls, and other little things don't really matter to me. and i don't use cruise control, i'm never really chilling at one speed.

I love every option offered on the Z. But the only one I couldn't live without was the LSD. Spending close to 30K on a RWD powerful sports car and NOT getting an LSD seems kind of silly to me. Nothing against any base guys (especially if you upgraded/planned on upgrading) but a limited slip differential has always been one of the most basic components of a serious performance car in my mind. Quite frankly, I was shocked when i found out it wasn't standard on ALL 350Z's

i am about to purchase an 04 redline base. i agree that if you are going to upgrade overall, including LSD, then base is the way to go. im not very particular to creature comforts for i will be fine.

I love my 05 base ! I already upgraded to some HID's and Im cool with the stock sound from the base. My HKS with test pipes is loud enough for my ears to handle The only thing Ive yet to upgrade is LSD. To be honest I dont know much about LSD's ... but I know that I need to get it when I go Vortec.

I got a Base with the intention of modding a bunch, adding a LSD, etc. About the only thing I wish I had was TCS. I can live without the cruise control, and steering wheel controls... I could add the homelink if I really want to. Not having TCS forces me to be more careful with my leadfoot. I kinda miss being a wreckless bastard.

I bought a 03 Performance in 04 with the idea to upgrade the stereo, wheels, brakes, and aero kit. I didn't know I was going to like the Touring leather seats so much. For the price I paid for the Performance with the OEM leather seats I bought later I should have just stepped up to the Touring.
