if you can afford to get the enthusiast get it because it will be more worth it for the small amount that it adds to the cost. I wish I had the LSD and cruise control. Those are the two that I miss the most.
Enth woulda been nice but I am still very happy with my base, it fit into my budget and i am sure i'll have just as much fun with it as i would have with an enth. A LSD may be in my future, didn't really think much about it till i joined here but probably stereo upgrade will be first once i get the extra cash for it.

I had to have the magnetic black and it was late (Sept)06 so choice was limited on new Zs.So I chose the base ,will get lsd (nismo)Maybe cruise would help when I visit my daughter in Phx.Other than that I'm very satisfied with the base.
I feel that the real Z value was in the base model - same motor, wheels, hids, etc. I like the fact that with spare and parts removed along with 5 gallons total of gas the car is in the 3100 pound range. Decent power to weight. JMO.
careless about cruise control, never use it and I think it should belong with AT imo. LSD is the one I only regret, which I will get the nismo lsd sometime next year. but I have the oem aluminum pedals I recently got from ebay

When I purchased the car, I knew exactly what I needed to change and figured it was cheaper than getting a high model.
HID - Hella - Check
LSD - Quaife ATB - Check
Seats - Bride Zeta III - Check
Brakes - AP Racing BBK - Check
Rims - AME Circular Spec R - Check
As far as cruise control, I sometimes miss it when I am going to other states but it doesn't both me at all.
When you realize that you are going to end up modding your car completely, it is nice not having to worry about selling your Brembos or 18's.

I intentionally bought a base because I hate the VLSD, and love the simple design of the base model's steering wheel (none of that traction control or audio control nonsense). Of course I hate the VLSD as much as I hate open diff, so first thing I got was a Nismo R-Tune LSD. Now I'm never looking back. Stock brakes are decent after you get some good pads, and I don't do a lot of track driving with car since that's what my 240sx was for.
Things I hate about base model: Open diff, seats made for fat americans.
Things I got (or will be getting): Recaro SPG's and a Nismo R-Tune LSD

The most beautiful things about our Z's are the price and the engine/tranny. No matter what model you purchase, you get the same HP and the same transmission. The rest is personal, trying to decide what toys you can happily live with/without. Being in Florida the VDC is a MUST for me. Heated seats? Well, obviously I dont use them but I adore leather. Love the homelink due to the fact one can finally do away with an ugly garage door opener. Cruise control is a must for me. I have a bad right leg from a wound in Iraq and my leg/foot begins to hurt after a few hours. And HID...I will NEVER drive another car as a DD without them (God willing). So the Touring was the car for me. But if i were to want a track car and/or save a couple grand and still have the same/better performance I'd definitely go base.
