Dry carbon fiber (preferably painted) is great for weight savings... who wouldn't want that?

Wet CF, mostly for looks. I don't like the look of bare CF, myself. It's too much on the show end. I'd rather someone be surprised if I smoked 'em.

 

The rsx jokes got stupid a long time ago, and this is coming from someone who is relatively new to the board.

Originally carbon fiber was ported over to this scene because it's lighter and it doesn't conduct heat as much as metal. CF is nice on the sportbike scene, where the metal mufflers can burn the crap out of you if you aren't careful.

Now... it's all about "Style". I agree that the accessories look like crap but I don't have anything against carbon spoilers or hoods (or chrome OEM wheels for that matter).

Sorry bro, I don't mean to offend but it's just irritating to me. This is a good board and I really hate to see it watered down with stupid RSX posts after the joke got old four months ago.

As far as the father figure thing, I really don't know where that came from, but no harm intended either way.

On a different note, I also agree that chrome doesn't belong on the 350z, but everyone has their own likes and dislikes, just like the carbon fiber. I don't see the purpose of flaming someone who put a little bit of work into the one thing that keeps this whole community together- a great car with a great history (not to mention great owners)!

Performance wise its great makes your car alot lighter and well for looks matters how you use it you can make a car look beautiful or just ugly.

I was just asking why CF was so popular, I didnt know it was light weight, now I do, I mean I can see putting CF stuff on IF it was painted to match your car... but all I was saying is the CF "look" is rather cheap looking like wallpaper or a full sticker that covers that specific part.

IMO chrome rims look good on any car, just as long as there not huge or spin... who cares if there stock or not? I like my wheels to stand out, unlike some black racing rims that blend in with the tires, that just doesnt make since ,you cant even tell if there wheels w/ the hubcaps popped off from a distance or not. Having a silver Z w/ black accents, I think the rims go together perfectly.

I think all he was trying to say was that your entitled to your opinion about the look of carbon fiber, and he's entitled to his opinion on chrome wheels. Both are just for aesthetics (90% of the time) and what's appealing or not appealing to you, is to others.

Because you didn't just ask why CF was so popular. You started a thread bashing it. CF aint exactly cheap so when you start a thread to bash CF then you can expect some people who have paid for it to step up and defend it.
