Im a married E-4 with flight pay ( blackhawk crew member) and not only have the money for my 07 but am able to save alot for upcoming mods also

Military here, Army E-5 96B, coming up on that 6, then hopefully WO1. Your gonna have a lot of hungry nights if you buy now! Go to the quagmire, save and thats your down payment!

 

Bro do yourself a favor and get into the 18 series Xray program, you'll get E5 in less than two years. Trust me I know! I made E-7 in 7 years and E-8 in 12years. Dont go in the regular Army, those boys get the shaft, and no support. Go Special Forces and make the big $$$$ with more support and equipment, and cool trips. Oh and did I mention the pay is great?

 

+1 on 18X. But you cant go into that lightly. Takes a lot of dedication.

 

+1 I'm in ANCOC right now and met a fellow classmate who's an X-ray. He joined in the army in 2002...he'll be an E-7 soon. Even if it takes another year for him to pin, that'll be E-7 in 6 years!

Took me 8 to get my E-7

18X initial bonus is pretty good too right? (at least it used to be).

 

I'm not in the Army, I'm in the Air Force and I already have my job that I DO NOT want to give up (Inflight Refueling Tech) but I will be trying to get deployed to build up bank a bit.

 

first 4 ranks take you 4 years to get e-4 no matter what you do.... unless you signed up for 6 years and got e-3 off the bat after tech school or get step promotoed.

 

I did this...e-3 tacked on after tech.

 

2 months after hitting 4 years in service, I was promoted to E-6.

 

gawd damn army and navy. marines are lucky to get e5-e6 in 8 years

 

After you save about $5,000 for a down payment.
After you get promoted to E5.
After your first overseas tour.
After completing technical school.
After completing basic training...

...that will be a good time to buy a 350Z.

And that is very rare in the Army and you know it. Its all based on MOS and openings, scores, ect! Typically E-6 comes at 6-10 years for Army folks!

Hah, that is a horribly wrong estimate. In the Marines, promotions from e1-e5 rely on : MCI's, PFT score, Rifle Score and Pros/Cons. As long as those are fine and you aren't being NJP'd or Non-rec'd every other day, you will most likely pick up. But then you must factor in your MOS and it's need for the rank above you. My job (2651-Special Intelligence Communicator) tends to promote rather fast however a 2631 is closed out for the majority of the time. Then you could look at MOS's like EOD(Electronic Ordinance Destruction) and while they have an extremely dangerous job, they are being promoted like it's cool. It just all depends. I've been in coming up on 3 years now and I'm an e-4 and will be picking up e-5 while in Iraq. Just my thoughts though.

 

That is very true. I hit E-5 in 4 yrs. E-6 7 months later and E-7 in 7. I havent been to Iraq yet either but I'm trying to get there once I get out of flight school.

 

When I made my 6, I hadn't been to Iraq once. Hell, it was June of 2001.

 

if everything goes perfect you can get E5 in the AF at your 4 year mark

 

I dont believe he can, the 18X program is for initial entry or did he ship already? I dont think he made that clear or my analytical skills suck, lol.
