Default old vs. new Z

Hey guys, I need your help. I want to spend up to around $30k. Would it be best to get a used Z? if so, which year? I hear 05 is better than 06' OR should i get the 07 model? I would def. want the enthusiast and up. If 07' is the case i would throw in a few more dollas to make it happen. I would mostlikely want AT because i do live by 10+405 freeways and it would be my everyday car, too much stop-n-go here.

thanks in advanced you for help.

I would go for an 03 - non rev-up engine - The only problem with the 03 Z is the tire feathering but with an alignment and/or aftermarket suspension (which you'll probly add anyway) it shouldn't be a problem. I bought my used 03 in excellent shape for $21.7k out the door this past January with 35k miles. I would also go for a non-modified Z and work your way up. Styling wise the Z didn't change that much and so if you're modifying, you shouldn't be too concerned with that.

in my opinion go for an 07 dont even think twice. just because i have an 03 and theres some weird problems that came along with it. for example: transmission, my driver window, but these problems arent a case in the newer modles.

I would go for the '07 because of the HR engine and latest revision transmission.

$30,000 might get you a 2007 Base, or a 2005 Touring with all the bells and whistles. You have to decide which amenities are most important to you. For reliability data check Consumer Reports.

I would get an 07 just because they're the newest and shiniest. I would put 20K down and finance the last 10K, just so you're prepared for when the mod bug bites... and if you stick around this site it's gonig to bite... HARD.

07' for sure. You should be able to walk in with 30K and leave with an Enthusiast. And no matter how much you want to get any AT. Do the right thing and get the 6MT. Or the car gods will punish you!!!!

I have an '05, but I wanted to see what an '07 felt like. So when I was at Home Depot, I got six 40lb bags of potting soil and loaded them in the back. Hey look! I'm driving an '07!

With as many problems as I've had with my 03' Windows, stereo, 3 gas tanks, headlights, new engine, I'd get an 07 because it has a warranty.

You can either get an 05 touring (loaded) or 07 enthusaist, either way get a 6mt. Getting a AT is just not right.

THE '07s are not heavier then you think. Lets see your 05 run same times as an 07 stock for stock. It might jsut be a few pounds heavier but its still worth it.

Geez growup like we need another useless at/mt debate Its his money etc.. let him get what he wants.

To the OP dont know what your finances are but most times getting the newer car is the better bet. Just be aware the its also the 1st yr for the 07 HR/Z and may have some unseen 1st run problems.

Good luck

I have an 03 and have only had to replace my window motor which was covered under warranty. Even owning a new Audi I still drive my Z all the time. In your situation, I would get an 07.

the 06 has the revised interior and exterior (with execption of the hood) and you still have a wide range of aftermarket support unlike the 07 as of now.
