This Noobs needs to learn how to drive
All,
I am super depressed right now (so I chose to get drunk tonight)
I just got new tires for my Z (had it about 2 months). Now the Z rides quiet. Now I hear all the engine noise. So I'm hearing this little tapping noise now. I've been super-concerned now since I had the tires.
So today I'm backing out from my spot at work while thinking about this irritating ticking noise, when all of the sudden, WHAM!, I nail a concrete parking stop. When I checked it out, I had scratched the underside of the front nose and a little on the ground effects by the back wheel--not a huge deal except it keeps happening. Then, I start looking at the car and it looks ****-eyed. So I measure the distance from each rear fender to the ground and find the car to be 1/2" higher on one side than the other.
I know that the tire guys just aligned it and they said they had to "shim" it cause it was way out of alignment. Could that be why the car is ****-eyed or is it because I ran over a freakin curb???? I have no idea what shimming means except it cost me more for the alignment because of it. I feel like my world is collapsing all around me and I'm super depressed. I've tried so hard to be careful with my Z but it just seems destined to get scratched and dinged....

its gonna happen ever now and then, just try to be careful
the other day i installed an ipod connector to the back of the HU, later i was backing out of the driveway and ran over and dragged some bags of bark, the car hopped up on one and then i noticed the check engine light was one. , i was really afraid i hurt my car. But everything was ok.

Thanks, everybody for the reassuring posts. It really helps to hear from other people on this. I am hoping everything will turn out okay. It's relieving to hear that the ticking could just be the injectors. If that's the case, I may come out better than I thought.
Do you think the car sitting ****-eyed could be fixed with just an adjustment in the springs? I don't know, but the car could have already been sitting like that before now. I may just have never noticed it.

Cant let little things get you down man. I just got my rear quater panel painted, my car was perfect for about 24hrs when my cousins GF showed up to the house upset and swung open her door chipping my paint and leaving a huge dent. Dumb b!tch is paying for it but I still wanted to back hand her.

Hey bro don't sweat it I put a lil scrape in the very bottom of my front bumper last night parking at the softball complex, and I'm extra **** and careful about the Z. At least you got the car, be grateful for that.

I probably am making a lot more out of this than it really is. I took it to the shop today to check the alignment and the new tires to make sure nothing got screwed up there.
They also addressed the ticking noise. The guy said it is most definitely bad gas and that he would replace my plugs (in case of carbon build-up) and clean the whole induction system. I guess the problem is pre-ignition heat or firing or something like that. He's putting in those new platinum iridium plugs which may be overkill, but i don't care. He said if this didn't fix the problem, I could put Octane boost in my gas but he figured the plugs would do the trick.
As for the difference in ride height of the car from left to right, I am still waiting on them to call and tell me what is going on there. The alignment is okay.
