That would be a yes. Take a look at autotrader, etc. You don't see many 30K 2003 and 2004 cars reselling in 2007 for 20K or more like the Z.

I'm not convinced it's as good as previous Zs. Typically after the first couple of years the depreciation rate will drop, but I don't think I'm seeing that with this car yet. Maybe it will take a little longer. It all depends on what the alternatives are for people with the money to buy a Z. It strikes me that this Z has more competition than previous ones and is also less different than other cars in its class. It can also depend on economic climate.

I spent many years with a 300ZX depreciating about $1000/yr. It dropped a ton in the first year or two, then slowly fell off after that. That hasn't happened with this car I don't think.

Just my gut feeling and what I'm seeing. I'm sure on this board there are lots of people who disagree.

A 3 year old Z with lets say 30-40k miles sells for what? About 20-22K ? Thats 30% off new. It is depreciating at a rate of 10% per year. I dont know where it levels off at, but thats a pretty good drop.

I've noticed that the 2005 35th Anniversary Edition keeps it's value pretty well. But generally, all Z's do if they are well maintained.

I've noticed most Zs are selling for a lot less than KBB around here. I think it has a lot to do with the housing market starting to die.

Damn, kinda feel like you got hosed on that one, esp being an automatic, they can't seem to give auto's away in my area.
