Default Alignment Troubles VDC notice

Hello all,

I have had my car in for alignment 3 times in the last 35 days.

The dealer is unable to align the steering wheel to the car.

That is, they put the wheel on crooked each time. Is there some way to correc this? I will have to bring it in for a 4th time now!

As a side note, I just became aware that the VDC computer needs to be sync'ed each and every time the car is aligned.

This can only be done with the Consult II computer that Nissan Dealerships use. There is apparently a sensor on the steering column that uses data from the steering wheel position to determine intended direction.

Thus, make sure the dealership or tech working on your car is aware of this.

Yeah, when I had mine aligned it had something stating that the steering wheel position was relearned.

The more I learn about these cars the more impressed I am with the amount of technology that is working behind the scenes. I have been putting of getting a FSM on CD but I think that I am going to get one.

Yeah the only trouble is that I do not believe the dealers are are resetting the VDC sensor, as is required.

This is also an issue if you take the car to an alignment shop, that does not have the CONSULT II computer, as none do, that I am aware of.

I still cant get my steering wheel straight. You would not believe the trouble I am going through. Nissan Customer care has said to go to a different dealership, so I call them up and they think I am crazy.

They cant believe that a dealership cant get the wheel straight after three tries.

Am I crooked or is the car? Any way, this car is super high tech if you have all the goodies, which is the reason I will be buying the extended warranty in a few years.
