Did I screw up my differential?
Well, a few weeks ago, I got my old wheels put back on while the iForged were sent back to be re-done. Well, it happens that one of the idiots put the front right wheel on the rear right position and vice versa. So what that means is that I was running different sized rubber left/right. They were configured like this for 1.5-2 weeks....took me a while to notice the problem, then more time to find time to take it down to the tire place to have them swapped. Now I've heard that running 200 miles on a spare is like doing 20,000 miles worth of wear on your diferentials (because of the diameter difference). Should I have new diferentials put in my car? SHould the tire place pay for them? What should I do?

I don't think the diameter difference is anywhere near as large as it would be using the temporary spare, so I don't think you did any harm. And yes I saw that episode of motor week on the speed channel about differentials and the spare tire.

I agree,
Slap the stock wheels on and say you are having trouble.
Or vice versa, take it in, aftermarket wheels should not affect your diff. Just make sure when you bring the car in, everything is set up correctly.

Yeah but I dont want o have to pay anyting....if its the tire places fault, then they should pay to have the stockers replaced with the stockers.
How easy it it to check differentials. Will the dealer charge me...im gonna head over there friday prolly so i huess ill get a deffinate answer then....

Don't worry, you did NO harm to your differential.
Think about it-- a differential is there to allow a "differential" in speed whenever you go around a turn.
That said, you must realize that the spider gears in a differential are turning different speeds unless you are going absolutely straight (equal speeds both rear tires). All other times, the differential is doing it's job and the spider gears are indeed spinning different speeds.
So don't worry, there's no harm done.

What is the difference in tire size?
If it's under a 3% change I would not worry one bit at all. I am sure that there is a decent amount of tolerance built into the system. People do absurd things to cars all the time, I think most auto makers are well aware of that and leave a margin of safety.

Yeah, I highly doubt you would have caused a problem. 225/40-18 VS 245/40-18 is about a 2.5% difference in diameter. I drive very twisty roads for 20 miles on the way to work, and if the diff was going to have problems from a 2.5% difference, then my car would be in big trouble. 15,000 miles so far and no problems with the diff (knocking on wood).
I wouldn't worry about it.
