03 6-Speed, average 22-24 mpg with regular driving.

If you worry about gas mileage, you shouldn't have gotten the Z in the first place... It was your decision to get the car, so don't whine about gas prices.

I get around 20 mpg city/highway/traffic. When I drive in the twisty roads sometimes it's as low as 14 mpg. She is a gas guzzler when always shifting at red-line.

This seems crazy after reading this but i average at least 24 to 26 mpg in my Z on a daily driver basis. I get about 420 miles to every full tank. Guess im lucky. The car has 82k miles on it also.

OK, here's one I never understood -- and this applies to multiple brands, not just the Z.

When you are at an RPM speed higher than idle and you put your car in neutral, why is the RPM slightly higher than when the car is in neutral, but at 0 speed?

For example, driving at 40 MPH and put the car in neutral. My RPM is around 1K all the way until my speed is at 0 (or actually less than 5 MPH). At that point, the RPM returns to around 800.

Since modern cars no longer have a cooling fan driven by the motor, why does this happen?

PS: I am not referring to the heavy flywheel that causes the RPM to rise a little (for a second) after pressing in the clutch.

I average about 25 with mostly city driving. Stay off the throttle and shift early.

I've got my Z as part of my salary package so fuel and servicing are all paid for by the company.

Bring on the revs

+1 my Z averages the same mpg as my 4 cyl acura TSX. and that's with normal driving not trying to conserve every little drop. if you really cared about gas you wouldn't have gotten a 2 SEATER which is probably the worst use of gas next to a hummer imo. buy a corolla and stop complaining
