Default Extended Warranty, post original warranty.

My warranty is about to expire this year, I plan on purchasing my lease this coming November and was told I need to think about purchasing the extended warranty well before the expiration of the original "Gold" warranty.

Anyone have any experience with the 100,xxx warranty? Costs? Etc?

Thanks
Sully

I got the 7 yr 100k warranty on my 2007 Roadster, but have yet to need to use it. She only has 1200 miles on her But I know it's cheaper if you buy it when you originally purchase the car, so it might be quite expensive now.

Could of been my naiveness but I wasn't offered that warranty at point of sale, was only sold up on the "Gold Package" which i purchased...

But with my driver side window failing again (already replaced driver side window motor once, and passenger twice) Im thinking im going to need the warranty.

I bought the extended warranty, and found out the bumper to bumper coverage is less than stellar... There is a very short list of parts that they actually cover.

Great info and many thanks for the response. If anyone else has some input, it would be much appreciated.

why would anyone pay $1000-$2000 for an extended warranty? If I really thought a car would need $1000-2000 in repairs while I owned it, I wouldn't even think about buying it.

I always own at least 3 vehicles, and typically trade them when they are 5-10 years old, and past 100K.

I haven't spent $1000 in repairs for all those vehicles combined in the last 15 years.

Did the same thing, but paid $900 for it. Is this the "Wrap" coverage? Maybe prices went down? This was just last week.

Do what you want but here is my 2cents!

Ext warranties are BS! They'll leave you hanging for the most part unless you fight them tooth n nail! They tried to deny a claim of mine once, said I modified the car and there for voided the policy (see Moss Magnuson act). I ask for it in writing and never got anything from them. After several talks with them over the phone I ended up taking it to the place I bought it from, where they at least pulled the pan, after having me sign and agree that it may not be covered. They found I had spun a bearing, warranty company denied the claim. Since it was fresh oil which I had just changed the day b4, they claimed I filed it after the damage was done which was BS. I was reving the hell out of the car but within spec mind you! I ended up eating the cost of a used engine and labor, by another shop of course! The ext warranty was the worst $1,000 ever spend!

I had other claims prior to this one (electrical issues, foggy headlights, grinding of gears shifting, which they also denied because of mods and none of the mods were to the powertran (engine/tranny)! They'll basically do whatever it takes to get out of a claim!

You would make out better selling extended warrantees than buying one.
