Sorry for you loss. They probably towed the car away because you can't just drive away without a key due to the ecu program.

To OP sorry for your loss. Hope the bastards get what they deserve.
I think its the Mcclintock one....I've also heard that as well but the rumor has been around for quite some time.

Yes, it was a horrible experience but, you'll live through it and probably come out the other side in better shape.

I mean really, who steals a bare bones Toyota PU with 2WD? It was a hot truck back then I guess.... pun intended.... ;-)
I used to work a at a shop and someone told me how easy it was to steal a Toyota PU. It involved a certain brand of scissors and not much else.

It doesn't take to many tools to break into a z. (Crow bar or something you can use as a pry / and some wire cutters ). Instance access to the inside of the z. Once I found this out, after my car got broken into, I had the 2 way pager alarm installed in my car.

Did you give anyone else the spare key?

check your local nissan dealer to see if somone inquired about buying a spare key for your car.

wow geez i just got my 2 way clifford alarm a while back and it saved me once, when my car got hit and i got the page and ran out and chased the person, long story short i got my money back. but this alarm still has its problems, it can get way too sensitive that loud noises make it go off and plus a lot of times it doesnt have the range. if your in a building or anything that can cause problems. inside the mall, ill guarantee you wont have reception. walls and a lot of things make the reception weak.

You are right. A lot of times I don't have reception, as if I am in a mall or more than 200ft away.

Yup. I had friend who years ago had her new car stolen and recovered about a week later. It'd been about 1/2 stripped. The insurance co. had it fixed. It was about 8 weeks in the shop. Never got the interior colors to match the original. Things didn't fit correctly. Etc.

She sold it about a month after it was "fixed". It was just one big hassle after another for months.

Yeah, pray they don't find it.

A family member of mine had a 94 supra that got stollen. a week later they found it behind a resturaunt with all four wheels and interior stripped, sitting on wood blocks. They have theft rings where they take and strip a car of all its got, wait for the car to be auctioned off or buy it from the junkyard and install all the parts back on the car. Last ring i heard got busted said they were making some serious money.

May I ask was gap insurance presented to you at time of purchase? In my case they stated that the actual purchase value would be reimbursed in case of theft or totality. I wish you the best of luck and im sorry for your loss. These cars dont come with a tracking device? Im thinking bmw here also.
