Sorry to hear about this story

They just simply pop the Z door handle, which allows them to easily lower the windows and BAM ...........they're inside in a few seconds.

So if you put a big down payment down on a car its worthless because you should never be "upside down" on the car.

I have USAA as well and if it is financed through USAA my understanding of when they explained their loan coverage to me was that they reimburse you for the full price that you paid for the car......

ya for real. my only post was that it had gotten stolen. I was actually surfing around trying to see if I can find some leads. I hope it just never turns up and the parts are spread through out the country. Its just to much headache to put it back together again. Ive heard things just dont work right or look right.

Well I got a call from my insurance today saying they had received word the car was recovered and needed to know where it was.
I then went down to the Wilshire division of the LAPD where I filed my original police report 10 days ago. The officer at the desk took my police report paper and typed away at the keyboard, and asked me, "You say your insurance called you?" I said yes, then he says, "Because we don't even have it listed as stolen!"
So at this point I am overcome with confidence in the LAPD...
They send me in back and the detectives take 45 minutes to locate the vehicle. They tell me I have to go downtown to the Newton Division because that is the dept that picked up the vehicle. All he can tell me is the car has been "stripped."
I head down there, which is about 45 minutes drive, and the officer at the Newton Div. - first thing he says, and I quote, "Wilshire sent you here? Those Wilshire guys are WEAK! The car isn't here, it's at our impound lot, but they should have known that."
So then I head down to the impound lot which is another 20 minutes away, and come to find the car isn't actually there, it's at the secondary lot. So by the fourth place I drive to, I finally get to see my "stripped" Z.
I was just totally blown away by the totally incomprehensible "strip" job. Everything of any parts value was intact. Lights, engine, tires, wheels, all intact. The car basically looked normal from the outside at first glance, except the door handle was missing on the passenger side, and the driver side door handle was half off.
A note on how they stole it (see pictures). The door handle was obviously broken, but the ignition was totally intact. Now at first I thought the door handle was the route into the car, but then I wondered how they started it, which was obviously done with a key (HEY GUYS! DON'T KEEP YOUR VALET KEY IN THE CAR!). So I also wonder since the passenger door handle was gone, if they actually got into the car with a key and drove it with a key, but had difficulty getting the driver side handle later for the parts, and once it was damaged gave up.
The inside looked like a schizophrenic monkey had gone ape****. That, or else some stoned stereo installed tried to start an install and got all the interior out and then didn't know how to put it back together.
What they took from the interior: Aftermarket amplifier, titanium shift ****, and some personal belongings. That, and all, I mean all, the plastic interior panels except the door panels were off, but most still in the car. Why did they pop off the A pillar plastic?? WHY?? And the headliner was gone so the inside looks like a racecar. Why do they do this? Anyone?
What they left: aftermarker Polk speakers, factory stereo, iPod interface, a really nice Leatherman tool in the glove box. Seats intact.
So I don't get it. They didn't really strip the vehicle at all. They just trashed the interior like they were the CIA looking for hidden microchips.
I have yet to discuss the options with insurance, but it looks to me like the car is totally salvagable, probably, and I'm totally guessing here, maybe $4000 damage.
So what kind of shops do interior repairs like this? Where should I take it - dealership? Those with experience, please comment.
Thanks for all the condolences on this, what a pain in the A** it's been, and it's not over yet.
Please if you have a Z, arm it up with some kind of aftermarket security, because I really don't want this to happen to anyone else on here.

they got started, got bored, and left?
seems they cut some wires too.
are you going to get a detailed inspection done by a nissan tech, or something... to make sure they didn't mess with anything serious?

Sorry about your car. Those cops sound like a bunch of F*cking retards....
Anyone have any suggestions on preventing this? I have a KARR aftermarket alarm included when the dealer sold it. I use the club, but other than that.....
