Paint is a wear item because it is exposed to the elements, you can't control nature...well maybe you can with your super gizmo death ray...stop being a cheap as$ and either get it repainted or sell it for a civic so the payments dont kill you

Paint is NOT a wear item. Does it have a recommended replacement schedule like oil or air filters? Do you buy replacement paint cans at Autozone like you do with brake pads or rotors?

State Farm got nailed for sub par repairs, using non OEM parts.

I don't think it would be out of the question for Nissan to be sued, for selling a product with an inferior finish.
State farm got sued because hundreds of bodyshops testified in court that their practice of using LKQ (used) and aftermarket parts was inferior to oem parts. They had tons of evidence and examples to make comparisons.

What would the plantiffs do, compare Nissan to Honda? Compare model to model? Now, they would have a better chance if something like the clearcoat peeled on all its vehicles prematurely (like gm a few years ago). But, rock chips from road debris - not a snowballs chance in hell.

dudes, there is no way in hell you can sue. there are way too many user variables. do you drive behind 18 wheelers all day? no? can you prove this?what about the next guy with no chips?

if a toyota collora completely breaks down at 100k miles can yo sue because toyotas are "supposed to run forever"?

Why do people resort to the "OMG buy a Civic" argument. And paint is NOT a wear item, are you kidding me? Did your mother have any children that lived?

I'm starting to think there are a lot of grade school dropouts here. You're arguing 100,000 miles vs. 10-20,000 miles. Big difference.

Well I at least learned the word analogy right before I dropped out of grade school and bought a 32k car.

Well what ever my education level and my line of work is according to you, I know there there will be no way in hell that you will win a class action suit against Nissan just becasue you have little chips on your bumper. So keep crying and keep attacking people.

Anyway, no pics. I don't have a camera that would focus that closely, and what I'd want to show is the density of the chips/impressions/sandblast effect.
I'm surprised that people are still arguing over this -- hasn't the OP already conceded the point that "the lawsuit would never some [sic] to fruition"?

No crying here. And I only attack those that seem go out of their way to be an ***.

That's what I'm sayin'. And that was a typo (fixed).

Then again, if this suit ends up making it to court, is the idea really that far-fetched?

You can sue for anything these days, people are ridiculous.

If I wanted, I could stick two fingers into my water bottle right here and sue Aquafina for not warning me I could get my fingers stuck.

I wouldn't win but I'd get the attention I've longed for all my life

The lady that sued Mcdonalds becasue she spilled hot coffee on her lap must be your hero. As the guy that sued the house owner for injuring him as he broke into his house.

-Dont spill hot **** on your lap cause it tends to hurt
-Dont break into people's houses
-Do some research into an apple product that has an integrated battery before you buy it
-Get a bra or drive only when there is no other cars on the road that can kick up debris

You've missed the point once again. Kudos to you.

I'd guess that this is going to get dismissed soon. The fat kids sued, but didn't get very far either.

My point is that it would be a very weak case (extremely unlikely to prevail).

As to the McDonalds case -- there's more to it than just "it's gonna hurt if you spill hot coffee on yourself."
