350Z, good for everyday driving?
Thinking about getting a Z. How's the reliability issue(s) for everyday driving? I commute to and from work 2 hrs a day. I need something that's easy to maintain and doesn't eat up too much gas.
One more thing, how many mile you guys put on your car in a day?

sup MIV i would first use the search option. I think the Z is a good daily driver. People mostly complain about interior noise levels, and Z being a rough ride. But its a sports car and the ride isnt as rough as people say. The only thing I dont like about my car is the audio but that can be easily fixed with aftermarket stuff. I drive about 35 miles/day and had no problems with my car yet. Gas mileage i get around 21 city and gotten 31/32 highway averaging 70-80 mph.

I put 500-700 miles a week on my Z. No problems after 25K miles and fun car on the highways, incredible car on the back country roads and twisties.
My computer says I average about 34 mph per tank and that's about 23.5 mpg. On the open road, you should get above 27 mpg.
With a lot of stop and go and their driving habits, there are guys here that get less than 16 mpg. If you are bogged down in big city traffic most of the time, you might consider an automatic---just like with any car.

I don't mind the stiffness and I actually like it that way being a sports car enthusiast all my life.Gas doesn't sound too bad either since I usually take the express way to work. I just wish it had a sunroof though since I don't like using A/C. Yes, I will be getting an auto so its convienient for my girl and the family to use as well. Beside, having 3 manual car(Supra/eclipse) would be a little too much for me.

You'll be fine man. The car is very reliable, gets decent gas mileage, and is not too harsh of a ride.
Seriously, it's just a Nissan, it's not a Ferrari, so do take it out on the road and enjoy it all week long! The Z is not some kind of super-special car that should be kept under wrap all the time...
Mine was daily driven ever since I got it, it's been 1.5 years already. I usually put about 350 miles on it per week. Gas money is about $250-$300/month.

i use mine for commuting only my commute is 2hr 15min one way(160 miles one way) so i total of almost 5 hrs per day 5 days a week. I've been doing this for over a year now and i can say from experience that it is very reliable. Trust me lol I know. I average 24 miles per gallon going a consistent 80 mph. And if i start with a full tank I end up with about 1/4 tank left each day. So don't worry and just drive... it makes the commute funner

i see you're in norcal.. i hope you have some ridiculously overpaid tech job that allows you to spend damn near $11k on gas a year.

wow...im at about 2hrs, 50 miles or so... round trip daily commute and it's a good commuter. Unfortunately with all the highway traffic i hit, I only average about 21mpg but it depends how you drive it too.
if you dont mind the stiff ride and the cabin noise it's all good.
my windows are always down and my ipod is always up..it's what keeps me sane during the drive

clutch and steering are pretty stiff for a daily driver but other than that gas mileage is fine... haven't owned my Z long enough to comment on reliability but I did have a Nissan prior to this and the reliability was excellent.

i daily drive mine and have taken it on trips all over Texas (3 or more hour drives). to me it's a comfortable ride, alot better than our 280z and 240sx. I normally average 20 mpg city and 28 hwy.
