i am guessing because there is also a roadster?

i laugh at that too when i look at cars for sale in the paper and they say "2005 Corvette - 2dr, etc etc...."

as opposed to the 4dr versions?

jim

edit - what is V35 Skyline?

Nice right up ---

I love my 2007 - Had if for a month and just hit 450 miles. I wish I had more time to drive it.

Some things I miss from previous cars, but I think I can fix
1. Auto on & off headlights
2. hood damper

Like you I had the Clear Bra(Venture Sheild) installed for 500 and lovin it.

Are you talking about DRL? You wouldn't want that. HID bulbs are expensive and unlike halogen, they very gradually lose their brightness over time. Being always on would hasten that exponentially.

We do have auto-off (more of a battery-saver for us, actually), albeit it isn't immediate with key removal; takes 3 minutes or so.

Nice write up! As for the non-auto locking doors, I actually love that about the car, . I never thought about it but since I drive a bunch of different cars all of the time I've realized how annoying (in my opinion) the autolocking doors are. If you stop to pick up your wife or something and you don't put the car in park the doors don't unlock. Or you get out of the car and it leaves all the doors locked except the driver's side etc.

i think he means when you set the light switch to Auto and as it gets dark (clouds, nightfall, tunnels) the headlights or parking lights come on by themselves. my maxima had this feature, had a little sensor on the dash.

personally i never used it, its easier for me to just turn a switch.

GREAT REVIEW. Nice contribution. So the GT Coupes come with track wheels that are gunmetal? I like...

People write coupe to differentiate between the coupe and the roadster.

I guess that makes sense. Don't understand why they would just leave coupe out though, since the roadster is still a coupe.

They are not gunmetal; but yes, in '06 Track and GT had the same 18/19 forged Rays. Now they're only available on GT since track is gone.

I think you answered your own question: Z has two body styles; roof or no roof. The only way to describe the difference is by using coupe and roadster added after "Z". Simple!

Thanks, that makes sense.

Thanks to everyone who liked my post, and the nice comments about my car. I certainly appreciate everything I've learned from reading posts from all of you over the last year!

Some follow ups to my original post.

Several people commented that the engine noise and general 'jankiness' with first gear are all normal behavior for a gear that's designed to get the car going from a standstill. That's great to hear. Overall it's not like it sounds *that* bad anyway, just not smooth as butter when held at a constant speed like the other gears. Anyways, good to know!

Someone asked "How did you find a GT model available for purchase?" or something. Umm, I went to nissanusa.com and searched through the inventory of the nearest 60 dealers or so, found a few GTs for sale within range and drove about 30 miles to make an offer. The internet is your friend!

About the car exterior not looking as good from some angles. All I meant is that when you're looking at the Z from long range (or through a very-zoomed-in camera) the Z loses some of it's curvature and doesn't look as visually interesting as it does up close. This is just due to perspective and field-of-view. However, like someone pointed out (with pictures), from directly behind the Z looks better at long range than from very close up.

Someone asked about getting used to the clutch. I tried driving stick in a few other cars before I bought my Z and I could immediately tell the Z had a stiffer clutch with a shorter engagement distance than the other cars (Miata and Focus, respectively.) It took me probably 500 miles and more than a few visits to empty parking lots before I was confident in driving stick, and I still stall it every once in awhile when reversing. Also I tend to burn the hell out of the clutch at stop lights on steep hills.

Interesting to hear that other people have weak E-Brakes too. I wonder what's up with that!

Also, congrats to the others who recently purchased a Z or are eagerly awaiting their ordered vehicle! I ordered my 2007 in Feb and waited for months only to find that my order was in an 'On Hold' state at Nissan Japan, at which point I canceled and bought this GT off a lot. I'm so glad that I did!
