Stealership wasted my time
So i brought the car in for a checkup for the axle clicking noise, tire feathering, and trunk not opening correctly. To fix the clicking noise the axle needs to be removed and re-lubed and they said it will be covered under powertrain warranty. Well than I am informed by the manager that its not powertrain but an "adjustment" so theyll have to charge me 188$ to fix it since my 3 yr warranty is over. BTW, my 03 has 22,600 miles. Thats complete crap! They also claim that there is no tire feathering problem yet I can deff hear it. They fixed the trunk which is the only good thing. Has anyone fixed the axle clicking noise themselves or should I just pay and get it done? Also, I hate how they have 16 year old punks working in the tech department who just like drive your car around the block. Never Again!

How is the axel powertrain ? Powertrain is motor and tranny. Some companies include axles, driveshaft etc. but Nissan doesn’t. At least I don't think.
This IS what is covered under the Powertrain Warranty:
(there are other things too, but they are not relevant to this thread)
ENGINE
Cylinder heads and block and all internal parts, rocker
covers and oil pan, valve train and front cover, timing chain
and tensioner, oil pump, water pump and fuel pump, fuel
injectors, intake and exhaust manifolds and supercharger,
fl ywheel, seals, and gaskets.
TRANSMISSION AND TRANSAXLE
Case and all internal parts, torque converter and converter
housing, automatic transmission control module, transfer
case and all internal parts, seals and gaskets, clutch cover
and housing, and electronic transmission controls.
DRIVETRAIN
Drive shafts, fi nal drive housing and all internal parts,
propeller shafts, universal joints, bearings, seals and
gaskets.
This IS what is covered under the Powertrain Warranty:

They said it would have been fixed if my powertrain warranty hasn't expired. The tire feathering was something I never experienced untill now.

They should cover your axles but not the tire feathering. The axle fall under the 5yr or 60k whichever comes first part of the warranty. The feather falls under the 3 year or 36k miles and you happen to be over the 3 year mark so it is no longer covered.

5yrs/60k is the powertrain warranty. I have done tons of these and covered under the powertrain warranty. Nissan has never sent one claim back saying it is not covered.

It's not a "no charge" because of the TSB. It's a no charge because it's a warranty repair. TSB's are still only covered for as long as the failed part is covered by the factory warranty. Unlike recalls that are covered beyond the warranty expiration.

So I should go back there and let them know that the axle is part of the driveshaft which is powertrain and they need to fix it. Should I print out your receipt and show them how it should be free?
