Default Remove tinted tails after hit and run?

ok so I was parked at a local convenient store on the weekend and my Z got hit and the assh*le took off after he checked his bumper on his car. I had witness' who came in running who had seen the car take off. Unfortunately, they took down the wrong license plate number . So now I have to take it to the insurance company for them to look at. I have tinted tail lights on my car which is illegal to drive with where I live. Should I remove them before I take it to the insurance company so they don't try to bone me and say that I'm not covered because the driver might not have been able to see my car because of my tails? Oh and they are tinted overlays so they are fairly easy to take off. What do you guys think?

Dude if you hit a tree that isn't properly lighted, it isn't the tree's fault for having no lights. Bottom line, any object not moving that is hit by a driver is no fault of the object.

I agree with this.
I would still take them off just in case. Might not be worth the headache. Insurance will try anything they can to not pay.

ya that tree point makes sense, but like PM-Performance said, Insurance will try anything they can to not pay. I took them off this morning, it's not worth the risk of sacrificing $700 for $50.

well my car did get hit at 10:30pm so it was pretty dark, so the insurance company could say that they didn't see my car because I tinted my reflectors and tail lights
