TCL,

Here's exactly where I was. The number of calls I was making to the dealership was starting to bother me if not them. My salesperson has been proactive and willing to share any info he had. About 10 days ago, I talked to him but he said he still did not have a VIN.

Well, I've been watching the VIN soup for a couple of weeks, knowing I had a low tracking number and a first day preorder. It was getting a little frustrating. So I called NNA. Gave them my tracking number, name and address and 23 hours later, they called back with a VIN and ETA. I might add, in a very friendly and courteous manner.

If you're in the same position, I wouldn't hesitate to call. You may sleep much better tonight.

Thanks for the input. I guess I'll have to try the dealer one more time to at least get my tracking number. Maybe he'll have the VIN as well. If not, I'll call NNA.

Default VIN SOUP

I called NNA earlier today, just to see if they might have my VIN#. No VIN, no help, just a bunch of questions about what in the process I would change. I gave the young woman I spoke with some things I thought would be helpful, nothing we haven't said hundreds of times on this site.

She kept reiterating the dealer should have this or that, after I told her 2 people within 30 miles of me have received their VINs and approx. delivery dates and I had hoped NNA might have the info by now since my salesman at the dealership was off today. She simply repeated the same refrain, "the dealership" handles all that and became borderline belligerent when I said they have no information at all about my car; build, shipping or arrival dates and she didn't offer to check with them as she had done before. She then began to try to push me off the phone. Since I wasn't getting any info, I didn't argue. "Shannon", at NNA's Customer Service, gets an F for her non-help and her belligerency. Felt like I was talking to BMW of NA again.

I then called my dealership and asked for the inventory manager. I was routed to a gentleman, whom I explained my question to and he said he would get the inventory manager? and someone else came on the phone and I explained I had seen that 2 of our members who live in the same metro area had just received their VINs and approx delivery dates and I was calling to see if I was going to be the next lucky buyer.

He immediately started with "we don't have any info until we get a VIN#" rap. I then pulled out my copy of ZISME's statement about the 2 reports each dealer has to pinpoint where our car is in the process, KMD3210-R2 and R3 read it to him word for word, crediting ZISME as the author. He said he would get the info and give it to my salesman immediately. What happened to the "I don't know nothin man"? These people act like your asking for the key to Captain Kidd's treasure when you ask a simple question. My salesman is off today so I will hear from him tomorrow, I suppose. Right now, I would like to have 5 minutes alone with Carlos the Killer.

Needless to say, I am very unhappy, again, with Nissan's response to a customer simply trying to get information about an automobile he has been waiting for since 2/11/02. Someone who hears about the others of this forum who have received their VINs and estimated delivery dates. There are only 5 Nissan dealerships in our metro area; if the cars are ready it makes good economic sense to ship as many as they can to this area all at once. This process has been one of the most frustrating experiences of my life; they have a great product and they continue to alienate their customer base. What is the point of that?

Boomer--at sea again.

Default Sept 6th delivery scheduled

Was at my dealer today and was informed that my Brickyard/Charcoal Touring with 6MT, kickplates, floor mats, splash guards and trunk mat is scheduled for delivery on Sept. 6th. YES! The owner of the dealership was kind enough to print out all the information. Here's my ingredients for the "VIN SOUP" . . .
Original order date: March 6, 2002
Tracking #: S260294
Vin #: JN1AZ34D03T100xxx

Hey Scaf, considering Zs are now at the dealers, I think you need to add a column for date received. DAMN, I'm gonna be jealous as those start filling in.
