Looking over the Vin's that Scafremon put into the table, I'm thinking that your dealer messed up on your VIN by just a little bit. I'm thinking it's supposed to be : JN1AZ instead of JN1A2 - seeing how he made the mistake also... All of the rest of our VIN's are the Z instead of the 2.

I found this on CourtestyParts.com and thought that it was interesting to see why each of our VIN's differed by more than just the serial number. http://www.courtesyparts.com/specs/vin.html The only thing I'm curious about is why I have an E in the 8th position when I ordered the air bags? Did everyone who has a D in the 8th position order the side air bags? If so, I'm really confused!!

 

Jill, I have an E with side airbags also. The chart is probably a little out of date, since the A seems to be for convertible, and possibly because of the seat belt pretensioners.

I had to go to the dealer but I got my Vin # today. My order # is R123817, ordered (faxed) on 1/15/02,Vin # JN1AZ34D13T100xxx, ETA 9/19/02
I'm not sure why it slipped from end of Aug delivery to eta of 9/19/02 but I'm closer. Hope this help the "soup" taste a bit better.

If people are not willing to post thier full VIN number or order numbers then why bother posting anything at all. It's really not helping anyone.

If everyone is so concerned about other people knowing thier VIN numbers then why don't you see everyone who owns a nice car, removing the VIN tags from the dash, door frames, and engine blocks as soon as they buy one? Since you are so concerned about your 'confidential' VIN number, I would assume that this is what you intend to do?

 

we should really be using our sequence number (the last portion) instead of the beginning. That would give us a little more relevant info. What the hell, I'll start. I'm number 1684
