Has anyone purposely left there Z stock?
I think silver is probably the best color to have if your going to stay stock.... To me black just didn't look right stock, I had to make some tweaks....
My Silver FX35 is completely stock....

Love the shape and style of the Z already. I just plan on some small upgrades that don't really change the look of the car. Not into the ricer body kits or high riser wings. Just a nice stiff lower suspension and an aftermarket intake/exhaust for premium sound quality. Why tear down such a beautiful car and make it look like rice

For the most part the z is a very nice performer stock. I've only done i/e because I just don't want to deal with dealerships about mods. Even then I waited almost a year to do them.

I guess the question is, is your Z your girlfriend or weekend prostitute. another thing that amazes me is how people buy a 30K car and drop 10-15K when they could have stepped up and bought a 40-45K car instead. not to mention your gonna lose your *** on resale. your mods are worth very much and racers dont really like buying another racers car cause they know they drove the **** out it. i see peoples sell totally decked out cars on ebay and they get squat for them. its painful to see. everybody's different i guess. just wanted to hear the opinions.
A few modding myths
1) People either mod or they don't.
I am not sure it is as black and white as you portray here. There are people here who are totally stock (even the radio) and people totally modded (is that still a Z) and everything in between.
Everybody has their own goals, there are some who:
want to mod for the hobby of modding.
want to build cars to show off.
want the most extreme 350Z they can build.
want to make the car work better for their particular use.
want to do a few things to stand out.
want to drive it and are perfectly happy with it the way it is.
want to stare at it in the garage.
.... the list goes on.
It's your car, do what you want
2) Its a waste of money
Cars are a horrible wast of money from the get go with initial cost, maintenance, insurance and fuel. Invest in investments and enjoy your car.
Some would say spending money on a vacation is a waste, you spend all kinds of money and when you are done, all you have is memories and pictures.
For example, you and a partner could spend $4k on a cruse to Alaska, + another $2k on activities and it will all be over in 10 days.
Or you could buy a set of $2400 wheels $1200 tires, $1000 exhaust, and $1400 audio and be able to enjoy that stuff for years and you are still out the same amount.
It all depends on what is important to you.
3) Modding makes the car unreliable
Modding can make the car unreliable but this is normally caused by:
inexperience of the owner and/or the installer
incorrect installs
poorly chosen parts
improper maintenance
over stressing related parts (pushing the limits)
lack of proper investment
There are quite a few quality parts on the market and if you do the research and choose wisely and install them properly, those parts can last as long or longer than the original parts.

Its funny when I see someone on here saying how they just added an intake, pop charger and what not... I ask why? more speed ? More HP ? for what ? So you can go 0-60 in 5.0 sec instead of 5.1 LMAO. So you can brag to others that your car is now 350 HP instead of 306? Most people could care less, and the ones who do care are probably just as insecure. LMAO no offense to the guys that actually mod there care to track it. Thats a different story.

However, there is something wrong with pompous *******s like you looking down on them, as if keeping your car stock some how shows you are more secure. I think you are not secure because you seem to think about how others will percive you if you were to modify your car in some way.
Only mod I've done is a 2" rash on one of the front wheels.
28,500 miles and nothing changed except oil and filters.
-First tire change next week, probably go to KDWs.
-I'll probably try different brake pads, but not unhappy with stock.
The '06 brakes are pretty good.

i have a 03z that was modified (wheels, system, exhaust, bumper..etc) in my Z but recently put my car back to stock. Why? I just got sick it. Dont get me wrong, I still admire well modified Zs. But just wasnt for me anymore.
On the downside, its not as fun to drive.
Thinking about selling my car and buying a nice "auto" car that I wont Mod.

like jeremy said about the Porsche Cayman, It wasnt designed to it's full potential, it was designed to fit in the market between the boxter and 911. On the other hand, I think the Z was designed to its full potential and that is probably why almost all mods make such little difference. I do think twin turbo is a different story! lol
*** my point, I think the Z is good the way it is, its perfect!
