Default Anyone done the full break in period on their new Z?

Hey was just wondering if there is anyone out there who has done the full break in period. (1200 miles). Ive had my 07 Z for 2 weeks now and she has only 400 miles on it that too because it was a dealer trade from Las Vegas to LA so all freeway miles.
Anyways im dying to just open her up at wot. Or if anything else what would you do? I plan to SC her but not till later like few months after they release the vortech for the 07.

Gee, I doubt anybody follows that old-fashioned break-in stuff anymore.

J/K - I'm sure 90% of the people have followed some sort of break-in. There's a small percentage of people who believe in driving a car hard from the first day. Nissan's engineers don't agree, hence the section in your owners manual about proper break-in.

If you push the motor past 7,000 RPM, it will explode in a ball of flames. I have seen it happen.

I have run mine up to around 5-6k RPM a few times, but nothing really harsh. Other than that I take it easy. I currently have 375 miles on it.

I did that the other day on my Z. Went up to 6200rpm twice. I have 200 miles on it. But normally I try to keep it under 3000rpm bettween shifts. Is this ok? The reason I ask is because this is my first new car.

I followed break in exactly how the manual said. I did exceed 4000 rpms maybe 4 times in the 1200 miles and that was only at 5000rpms. Needless to say, It was awsome opening it up.

hmmm well I am due to take delivery of Z #2 in the not too distant future, unfortunately I followed the break in for my 2006 car and it was a disaster.
I was using oil like a ****, I probably used in excess of 4l of it in about 4500 miles.

I can tell you that the break in for me starts when I look at the car when I pick it up from the dealer and ends when I drive it off the lot. I am going to drive it normally from day 1 and see if that's better for it (I know it is on motorcycles).

I took it fairly easy up to 1250 on the dot. (Just like the manual suggests. But like others, I did go over 4k rpm once or twice). Then changed the oil and opened it up.

Don't be a ***** and hammer that thing. I have 2000 miles now and the car is smooth as a top. Break in is a waste of time.

Go down to the port when the boat arrives from Japan. Watch the longshoremen unload cars. Your car has already seen WOT.

So this Motoman says ride the engine hard in the first 20 miles, then change the oil, and if you don't, its too late because the rings have been "filed down" by the honing. Damn, too late. Unless you know about this break in method before you get your car, chances are you will have driven the car more than 20 miles by the time you read this thread/forum. ha
