Ditto, '03 here...driver side window motor failed...replaced POS Bose HU with the cd skip issue with aftermarket...currently at 59k miles, no other issues...other than an annoying intermittent rattle or two here and there.
To the OP...problems you experienced with your '03 doesn't affect every vehicle.

4...Occasionally, the car will not start. I put the key in, turn it and nothing. Eventually it will start after I try it 10 or more times in a row. To this day Nissan has yet to diagnose the issue.
5...3rd gear was making a grinding noise. I took this back to Nissan 3 times, finally they replaced the transmission at 50k. During this, one of there idiot mechanics did not place the lift right under the car and cracked the passenger ground effect. They denied this was their doing.

you want a reliable car go buy a Volvo or something... your on the wrong forum to be bashing Z's. I too have a 2003 bought it used and have only had the window motor problem. Not a big deal. when i went in to get it fixed they fixed the fuel hose as well. NO MONEY OUT OF POCKET.

Because of the OP, Im NEVER EVER gonna buy a Z. Wait.............
I already have one. Every manufacturer has had things break on their cars.
All those things are typical recall stuff. First year car=obvious there's gonna be a few glitches. Just because your dealership's service dept sucks, doesn't mean that the Z or Nissan sucks. Like a few others have said, the car probably wasn't maintained like it should have.

I have attempted to contact Nissan customer service numerous times with no luck. They do not call you back and it is impossible to talk with a supervisor. All the above problems were fixed, minus the no start issue, under warranty.
The rear suspension is really bad in the 03's and causes excessive tire wear. I purchased new rear tires in Nov of 06, when I went for inspection in March of 07, they told me I needed new rear tires. Now mind you I drive all highway and do not race this car. The tire company refused to take responsibility for this issue.
Nissan is a headache to deal with and they DO NOT stand behind their cars. DO NOT buy a Nissan, you will deeply regret it!!

TO OP: $hit happens when you buy a used car, regardless of what brand it is. You can't possibly think you're going to influence any of the forum members here to get rid of our Zs just because of what happened to you.

Dear OP, when you've had as many mechanical problems as I still have with my Z, when you can't drive your Z, please drop by again. Even so, they're pretty cool cars, even if there are things most of us would change, we're still here.
The whole point of this forum is community support of others with a passion for the same car. Perhaps find yourself a friendly dealer to sort any unsolved issues out. We're here to offer advice, all you need to do is ask in the appropiate sub-forum.
