Default Hit and run.. ughh!!! repair? or aftermarket?

I went to the mall this weekend, Danbury CT. I parked my car outside, n went to pick up something really quick.. when I came out.. LASTTT thing I wanted to see was thiss!!

I flipppppedd!!!.. I must of scared the sh*t out of these kids that were around... ughhhh

I went to my local body shop.. he wanted 450 to fix and paint the bumper!.
Is that good?

I was thinking I should call my insurance company, n have them come over, check it out and write me a check.

should I fix/paint the OEM bumper? or go after market?

Lots of ignorant drivers out there who will not leave a courtesy note on your windshield.

Do you pay insurance premiums? Then visit with your insurance company.

I'm replacing my bumper after hitting a cat or raccoon at 50mph. The body shop wants $300 for a new bumper and $400 for paint and labor.

I wouldn't go aftermarket unless you plan to get a new front and sides too, because just a rear would look stupid.

I know thats what im worried. I would love to have an aftermarket rear bumper.. but then I dont have a front bumper or sides.

I called up my insurance company, they should be here in 2 hrs. I gotta wait n see how much there going to write me a check for. maybe ill end up buying a front lip and sides too?. From here (used) ?

$450 is fair. I just had a dent the size of a quarter fixed and it cost me $371.

Almost the exact same thing happend to me - my estimate was 900 to have a brand new bumper cover instead of the usual Fill/sand/paint.

Don't you have a deductable? You'd be better off paying out of pocket on this one sounds like. There is no reason that bumper needs to be replaced from the looks of those pics, just refinished.

Depends how much excess the insurance company charges, personally I’d go aftermarket

I paid $860 for new rear bumber, left turn-signal light/bracket, paint. I got three quotes, all within $50. $450 sounds bogus.
