Everytime I Drive A 350Z...
I envy all you Z owners. I absolutely love my '07 G Sedan 6M/T to death, but fak I just love the feeling I get every single time I get behind the wheel of a Z. Took an '05 6M/T Touring on the lot for a quick spin today and even though it was a non rev-up car, I just felt so much more connected to the road in the Z than I do in my G. I love the fact that it's a strict two seater and much less compromised than a G Coupe in terms of its driving dynamics. The G because of its position in the market must play dual roles as a luxury 2+2 and a sports coupe but the Z is almost all go and very little show. The interior is a couple notches down from that of the G, but who the hell cares when the car is this much fun? I've seriously begun to consider picking up a Z as a 3rd vehicle after realizing how much these things make me smile. Now I just need to sample an '07 HR car. Although perhaps I shouldn't. If I enjoy the non rev-up and rev-up cars enough to consider buying one, taking an HR Z out for a spin will probably end with me having to make room in the garage.
Sorry about the semi-rant and what some may deem a "useless post," but I just thought you Z owners should all be reminded of how lucky you all are to own such a well balanced machine. Seriously, for 30k, what other drop dead gorgeous 2 seat sports car can do such a good job of making you feel like a kid everytime you get behind the wheel?
/useless rant

Actually, the G even though at time seem disconnected is all the car the Z is. I actually like the Z interior over the G. That is one of the things that sold me on the Z. I hated the rear end and spoiler on my Z and loved the G35 rear and spoiler so I took a G35 spoiler and slapped it on my Z..... Just right imo So, I have a little G in my Z. ;-)

Nonetheless G is a dope car
Actually, this is a great thread. Ive considered of trading the Z in on several occasions, but you're right: No other car is even worthy to compare to the Z in the price range. Im definitely keeping the Z for a long time. I can't even imagine of not owning a Z.
Got that right it's a perfect balance for the street. I've always seen that in all the Z's I've owned. I'm on my sixth Z now and there most probably will be a seventh .... but, that doesn't discount how nice that G is.
Yes, there are better cars for the track .... but, really I didn't buy the Z to track it. I have other cars for that duty.
Z is pure sex and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.... cause they are just dreaming...... about your car. ;-)
+1 on great thread. G's & Z's are brothers and both have there place.

I work with a woman who owns a black '05 G and that's what got me started wanting a G, but after I got my Z she said, "ya know, when I look at a G35 it looks like a really nice car, but when I see a Z, I go WOW!"

the car never ceases to put a smile on my face and a feeling of satisfaction in my soul.
now if we could only do something about all the other cars on the road that just get in the way.

I dunno. It may have something to do with the fact that I drive Infinitis all day. For me, before I pulled the trigger on my G Sedan, it was a toss up between the G and a 350Z. But for some reason, the G Coupe was never a consideration for me. I thought to myself "if I get a 2 door, I want a full blown 2 seat sports car, compromises and all." Since I bought my G this past May, the G37 wasn't an option at the time. And since the Sedan already got the HR motor I looked at my G as "a 4 door Z with a much better looking and much more comfortable interior." Overall, I know I made the right choice and I have no regrets. If I were to do it all over again, I'd make the same choice...but it doesn't change the fact that I absolutely love the way the 350Z drives, handles and sounds. I know they have to do it as the car appeals to a different target demograhpic, but I've always disliked how Nissan/Infiniti softens up the G Sedan in comparison to the Coupe in terms of a quieter exhaust note, no 19"s, smaller brakes etc...
In the end, the Z must be driven in order for one to appreciate all that it offers its driver. Prior to getting behind the wheel of one, I thought of them as "cut rate Gs minus the two back seats." WRONG. I always wondered why my two favorite British car enthusiast magazines (EVO and CAR) wrote such rave reviews about the Z. I thought to myself, what's the big deal? It's just a "cheap G35." Not even close. "It's a porker of a sports car" I thought. Not really. Sure it's no featherweight, but if you want to talk about heavy, check out the G37s close to 3700 lbs. curb weight. The Z's 300 fewer lbs. and 4 inch smaller wheelbase can definitely be felt by the driver.
All in all, what it all comes down to is the fact that the Z is a fantastic performer regardless of the price tag. The fact that it's affordable is just a bonus. Having driven a handful of Zs, I can honestly say that I now understand where EVO and CAR are coming from with regards to their glowing reviews of the Z...or as they say across the pond, the Zed.

I understand where you're coming from. If i needed the backseats i would consider the g sedan cause the new ones are sexy
. but being that i wanted a real sports coupe the Z was the only option for me. I don't think there's any other car in the Z's price range which could make me wake up in the middle of the night and take the car for a spin Some people may say the s2000 can do the same, but i've driven 4 cylinders all my life and don't like the high revving aspect since if you have to rev it high every time to get similar acceleration to the 350, your mpg is actually WORSE than a v6....ironic isn't it
