pulled over for tint??
#22
one of my friends got pulled over for the same thing. I also have another friend who owned a rim and tint shop so i got him to right up a fake invoice for the tint removal and also getting 35% which is legal here put back on. So then when my other friend went to court he just drive another car and they never even went out to look at his car and he got it passed. But i dunno if he got fined. Dunno if this will help?

just take the tint off your front windows. not hard at all. (except for getting all the adhesive off, now thats kind of a pain)
pay the $10.00 fix it ticket and get new tint put back on. ( shouldnt be more than $75.00 MAX)
good to go

First, if you paid $300 to tint a Z, thats rediculously too much money. Just go get it signed of and remove it yourself. I wouldn't try the other car deal, b/c you're never going to know who you get when you go get it signed.
You're in MD. The cops (mainly certain countys i.e Howard) are worse than others.

In the Z's case, it only has front windows....

hey do what i did. go to where your got your tints done and ask them for a receipt saying you got new ones and then set a court date and plead not guilty. if they see that you have a receipt they dismiss your case and your good to go. you dont have to pay s*** and it doesnt go on your record.

To the OP…
I had pretty much the same experience… but different vehicle (I was in my 1990 Mitsubishi Montero 4WD that was “stock” as to window treatments). I’m old, and so was this vehicle. The cop who stopped me did nearly the same maneuver you describe. He passed me with a hard look, and in my rearview mirror I see this guy doing a hard u-turn in rush hour traffic, speeding up behind me, and putting on his lights (like I was some type of criminal warranting this “cowboy” style of driving and apprehending a suspect). I stop and he comes up and slaps some kind of instrument that measures light transmission on my driver side window telling me that I failed the “tint-test” by 7%. Then he asks for the usual stuff (driver’s license, insurance card, and vehicle registration)
OK… so now he sees I’m a civilian, and I am pissed… so he backs off just a little. His attitude changes, and he decides to tell me the reason he is stopping me. It turns out that police officers worry when they stop a vehicle with tinted glass and cannot see inside the car. I can certainly understand that.
Just curious… Did you add tint to your driver’s side and passenger side windows? If so, how much tint (percentage)?

i had tint for years on another car, limo. I don't care what percentage they are, unless legal...cops will pull you over eventually. They don't like them at all, and honestly, I don't blame them. Just take them off. I think the Z looks way better with no tint, esp. since you see the rear strut tower which is pretty cool.

If you have to pay $300 to have it re tinted next time and you really have to have it. Buy it again.... but, expect to pay the ticket.
Consequences, don't people think about them anymore?
One thing to remember. The day you need an officer he's your best friend. The day you get a ticket ... He's a jerk.
Officers give tickets for illegal tint because they don't like pulling their gun on a car not knowing if the person inside has one pointed at them. They are the ones in harms way.
Nothing I like better than a black car with dark tint ... But, it caused too many issues for me. I just didn't like getting pulled out of the car at gun point. I was afraid that someday a officer(rookie) might make a mistake. It's also not kewl if your friends see this happen to you.

In my acura I had a tab attached to the window fuse, Id put down the windows and then pull the fuse if I got pulled over...when they tell me to put it up I just said "it doesn't work" and let them try. Worked 3x
