I would go with Base 06-07 over an Enthusiast if you don't need cruise. But that one time you make a long trip without cruise, you will be hurting. I drove from DC to Wisconsin (15 hours) in my 03 Base, and my leg was hurt-ing. But when I was at home, I never used the CC, so it really make a difference.

Just knowing you have it for a potential long trip is a + in my book.

I'm not really missing CC at all but am definitely missing LSD, especially in wet conditions. This is my first RWD car and it's interesting. My last car was a WRX so traction was never an issue and my SpecV before that at least had LSD so this has been a new driving experience. Whatever the case, I still love the Z, even the base.

How many of you have driven one of the upper models with LSD? Noticeable difference? I don't really track the car but in the limited time I've owned it, I've quickly learned how it behaves on wet roads. I'm thinking of maybe picking up a VLSD off another model or possibly a Quaife LSD. Has anyone else upgraded from the open differential? Is it really worth it for something that is mostly daily driven?

not needed. base is the best imho. lightest and you don't get that VCD and TCS that, like many threads seen on here, "turn off in middle of turns and almost killed me."

My integra had it also, NEVER USED IT!
You don't need it.
It's a lot more fun down shifting to make every pass on the highway.

you will adapt quickly. I actually used the CC on my previous car becuase my commute involves 80% highway early in the morning with no traffic but cops are not still in bed of course. After my 1st ticket I used it as a defense against getting more tickets (set the cruise and don't look down at how SLOW I'm going! and just be on my merry way) but after owning the Z for a few weeks got over it very quickly. I don't think you will regret it.

just noticed the couple of comments on long distance trips and I still never notice that it's not there. 5 hour trip every year to see my family for Thanksgiving never gets to me at all. Base FTW!

I don't miss traction control at all.. If I took road trips alot I'd probably want to have it installed but I drive in traffic everyday, I wouldn't even use it.

+1, unless you plan to use your Z for long distances everyday. i personally don't like CC because, imho, it'll give you a chance to be lazy and not brake properly.

I had CC on my C6 vette, but with traffic around the SF BayArea, being able to use it was a rarity. I liked it when I could use it, but I can count on one hand the number of times I could use it for more than 10 minutes at a time

I considered going to the performance model on my '07 but then decided to put the money saved into mods.

The first of which was adding in the homelink mirror on my own

Unless you are able to consistently use CC on your other cars in your area, I would say save your money and get the base. If you really want the homelink mirror, buy it from one of our sponsors and install it yourself.

Give me a shout if you need help installing it, I should be able to walk you through it
