Base Trim Z Owners
Simple Question:
Do you miss not having cruise control?
I want to get a Z very soon and am actively looking. The base is more in my price range and I can get an LSD put on. I don't travel a great deal on the interstate accept for the 7 miles to work.
So I'm trying to decide if I should go with a newer base or slightly older enthusiast or touring.
Thanks

I hate CC and never use it in my other car, so I don't miss it in my (base) Z. My husband really likes CC and misses it in the Z.
Just depends on you. I'd go for the newer car without CC, but that's just my opinion.

yeah, i drive 4 hrs home from school and it isnt that bad. usually there are alot of drivers who cut you off and make you brake all the time anyway. If you get a good deal on one then dont let that stop you. with all that said, it would be nice to have it every now and then though.
I got a base, and I really don't see the need of it. I dont travel that far, now if you were gona use it for high highway millage than I would think about it. Other wise forget about it.
Buying used you will be paying a grand or so more to upgrade to Enthusiast or Performance. Seems like a no brainer to me...with no dissing the Base at all.
The one thing that might point me to a Base is if the Base was the only one I could find in the color I wanted.

When I had my auto Z never used the CC, now I have a mt and don't even miss it atoll. You come to realize the things you never use, are the things you want the most, and you think you need them, but you really never do.

I would like a homelink mirror though

I have an MT base, and I do miss cruise control.
Most of the time when I drive from Houston
to Dallas, I wish I had it. That's really the only
time I miss it, during football season.
Other than that, I'd probably never use it.

I do like cruise control on my long distance cars. Those would be cars I drive over 200 miles one way in a single day on the open freeway with little traffic.
Generally, the Z trips are through the mountains or I'm in traffic so cruise control doesn't work for me. I wouldn't even think to use it because the conditions are not good for my use.
I'd say if you plan on doing more than two 200 mile one way trips a month on straight open freeway; you might consider it. Your leg might get a little stiff holding steady pressure on the throttle. However, if your in live in a state where traffic or twisties enter the picture every 50 miles or so. I do not see the need for the cruise control.
Two additional things to think about when you get cruise control it is unbalanced looking on the steering wheel. Plus, if you put on a aftermarket steering wheel you'll lose the cruise control anyways.
Happy with the base with no cruise control because I don't use it, better looking steering wheel, and I saved some money for mods I have now. ;-)
