Hey auto tranny owners!
I drove an a/t over the weekend and was surprised at how much fun even the automatic was...what do you a/t owners think, now that you've had it for a bit?
I really like my 5AT had my Z for 7months(7500miles). I have the option to switch to manual mode. When I want to play with the radio or drink something in traffic I just us full auto. The manual mode adjusts to your driving style. When I push it the gear shifts aggressively. I'm more impressed with my times being similiar with the mag specs. Which they test the 6sp Zs.
Hi Guys, I have been using my 5 speed auto to go down steep hills. I have one really long one on the way to work, only problem is that it is 25 mph...so I drop it into 3rd and don't use the brakes, the speed stays about 30 mph with no gas...I was getting really tired of cleaning the blasted front wheels every night. The 5 speed is also very fun on windy roads as we all know, I notice I get the RPM's up higher than usual with the 5 speed than just the straight auto, so I go through more gas, but it is so much more fun. Marcy..BTW my car just turned 5100 miles, got her on 9-5-02.
me and a friend both own Z's mine being the AUTO and his the 6-speed, we both switch cars every once and awhile i like the 6-speed much more but there is a reason that i got the Auto, i live in NYC the home of TRAFFIC, and i used to drive a manual car before this i CURSED MYSELF EVERYDAY IN TRAFFIC. Now, in the NEW Z i just CHILL and kick back and DRIVE,
I LOVE MY Z!!!!

I have mine for 8 months, and I have no complaints. The 5AT is pretty high-tech. In "Drive", the trans allows for converter slippage for a smooth shift feel. But when in manual, or driven aggressively (pedal mashed) the converter allows for minimum slippage. Well that's what I read from the shop manual.
5,500 miles and could not be more happy. As previously stated, she's agressive in manual mode and comfortable in auto mode. 2nd gear has a very nice pull. I can't wait to see how the5AT performs on the track. Anybody else plan on running their 5AT? -m

What's up John. Glad to see we finally had a nice day of weather, but it looks like that won't last long. As for the track, thank you for offering, but I'm not really interested in 1/4 mile times. If you decide to take the Z out on a auto cross track like Limerock, then I'm there! However, I may be willing to go out and see the show.
I traded my last manual tranny car because it was killing my leg due to a muscle problem. I had a 02 Altima 3.5 SE with the automatic and the Z is by far a better automatic than the Altima was. I like the manual mode because it does give you control of shifts at what ever RPM you want to shift and is quick shifting. The Altima had a manual mode also but it would shift with a thud sound from 1st to 2nd gear. So I am satsified with the Z's auto. I did test drive a six speed manual before I bought my Z and liked it except I knew i would be back to having muscle problems with the constant shifting

Very impressive times. I remember seeing your exhaust tip install. Nice Z.
