Don't dealers know anything?!?!?!?
It's amazing to me that out of four So. Ca. (Orange County) dealership service departments I called, none admitted to seeing tire related issues on the Z and only one said they had seen a tranny problem.
According to dealerships in the area the car is perfect and everything smells like roses. It doesn't give me much confidance in these dealers work or truthfullness.
Has nayone else heard these kind of stories?
Stu E.

Check the problems/maintainance forum....many people just print out the tsb for their problem and bring it to the dealership. If their is no tsb call NNA and see what they have to say about it. Hope this helps you out.
Keep in mind that people that work at the dealership are almost certainly not sitting at a computer every day or so and checking my350z.com like we are.
That's why we know more than they do about almost every aspect of the car. They sell a limited number of Z's and a few of them might have a problem here or there that causes it to be brought in for service. Since the service dept. sees lots of other cars a lot more often, they believe that the Z has no problems to speak of. Just my theory....

Wayne,
In my Advanced Study of Air Mobility course on TALCEs (Tanker Airlift Control Element) we learned yesterday that the Seabees are the only guys in the DoD who install runway lighting at bare bases. I never would have guessed! Anyway, saw your tagline and it was just too much of a coincidence not to mention.

When I called to make an appointment, this conversation ensued:
little chicky receptionist: Thank you for calling <dealer> Nissan, how may I help you?
me: Hi, I need to bring my car for (whatever it was).
receptionist: Okay, what model car do you have?
me: (swelling with pride) The 350Z.
receptionist: And what year?
me: ...
me: 2003? (hello?! you work for nissan and this is your top of line car - get a clue!)
My conclusion is that yeah, they know nothing.

^^ Sometimes with those type of receptionist/ apt. positions, they are taking so many calls a day, always the routine questions. I could see how it would be easy to ask that rather than really thinking about what car it is, year, etc...
neohalo1,
You are right - I am probably being a little harsh. But it's terrible customer service and makes a bad first impression when the first person you talk to doesn't know what her company sells.
But, I'm probably being too harsh. =P

My respect really goes to the Marines and various Special Forces units, however, and to the brave young men who landed in Normandy on D-Day to help stop Hitler, and to the men and women of today's military. I say, if you're gonna go, go with overwhelming force. I salute them all.

The grease marks are caused by too much silicone grease put on the window motors of early production 350Zs due to some yahoo at the plant glopping it on by the bucketfull until they fired him or retrained him or something. My window motors and rails are being replaced today since my service manager said that he couldn't get all the goo out of there. Anyway, its pretty common. One of my squadron mates who got a G35 has big ol grease streaks on his windows. Since he isn't addicted to a board like this he was kind of surprised that I asked, since the streaks were kind of bugging him but he wasn't sure whether to bring the car in for service. He also hadn't heard of the Bose TSB, but he was happy with the sound, so no worries.

Gimp was pointing out that you said the streaks were on the windshield! He knew you meant the side windows and was just teasing you. Actually, he reeled you into the boat. LOL
