Thumbs down What good is a Nissan Warranty!?

We'll the final saga of my Nissan shitty warranty. When i first got the car i put the Skunk 2 spacer on it and the JWT pop charger i had issues with it,took it to Nissan and a rep had to be passing threw seen them working on it and voided my powertrain warranty!!I figure this has to be bogusthis was at 37K..since then ive went 50 miles there then 50 miles back to another Nissan dealership. They always were good to me and didnt care about mods.
This dealer performed a syncro replacement in my transmission at 59K UNDER WARRANTY..they also did a fuel asc. unit around 52K...We'll at 74K 1K til my warranty is out, they had been doing a oil consumption test around 71K.Take it them they take it apart...said oil was getting in the lower shaft??which i was puzzled and its all that he would tell me.Well a week and so later I HAVE NO WARRANTY!!!THEY WONT FIX MY CAR said my Plenum spacer voided my warranty!!..WTF...Should i get a lawyer or what this is rediculous...any other problems with dealerships for the rest of you all??

this has been covered time and time again on the forum.

the magnuson moss act of 1975 states the dealer must prove that the modification was the direct cause of the defect/damage.
http://www.impalaclub.com/naisso/magmoss.htm

contact Nissan North America and if youare lucky they will straighten out the dealer for you. If they dont help you get a lawyer involved and sue them. Also sue for legal fees.

Like they said above, you are covered if they cannot prove that your spacer caused the problem.

but if they do prove you wrong, they will basically come after you for their loss of time and that will cost $$$.

Its the price you pay for mods really.

I didn't read the whole post, but once you mess with your engine they can void your warranty. i know a tec guy at nissan, he said even some nismo parts (R-parts, not S parts) will void your warranty.

you should have taken out the parts and reset your ECU before you went in to claim your warranty. i have a friend who did this with his 2007 STI, he said it worked and he got warranty work done.

the only advice i have for you is talk to a lawyer like its been said, but lawyers cost money and if you loose you will be in a worse situation than what you are in now. also, like its been stated above, contact nissanUSA, and see if they can help you out.

sorry bro,
Jake

agreed with the above posters in that, they have to prove that your mods caused the problem.

Simply NOT true.

The dealer or manufacturer CANNOT "void your warranty"...period.

The CAN, however, deny specific claims if they can prove that your mod, (or abuse or negligence) was the direct cause of teh problem..

All I got to say is "give it a break!", you've cheated the system and got away with it several times it sounds like. Now 1k from the end of your warranty you want a major job done. Sorry but I don't think even a lawyer is going to get er done.

You're right they can not just void your warranty for a mod or two and have to prove a mod is the cause of the problem to deny a warranty claim.

75K is 75K..thats the warranty..ive told them since 64K it seems like it has been taking oil..and slowely but surely its got worse..then worse...so theyve known about it and at 72000 they wanted to do a oil consumption test and said it needed taken care of...but either way to me...the tranny and stuff was under FACTORY 60K warranty..when you pay $1900 for an extended gold warranty..you'd expect to get a better treatment.

From my past expierence, if you mess with anything in between the throttle body to the cats you will probally loose. that means spacers, headers, cams, ect... you dont have a chance. Intake, pulleys, and exhaust ok....most any thing else wouldnt fly.

Question

The motor warranty is for 60 months or 60,000 miles. You have 74,000 miles.

What part of the warranty did Nissan not honor?

Thats why i would never buy a "nissan" warrent..

http://www.warrantydirect.com/

After market warrenty, backed by BBB and is a true bumper to bumper warranty that covers more and is cheaper than the "nissan" warrenty. Plus you can take it to any shop you want including the nissan dealer. And the nissan rep or company can not void your warrant

I noticed that you have some sort of extended 75,000 warranty.
And you brought the oil consumption problem to their attention at 71,000 miles?

The warranty is valid for the oil consumption problem until the oil consumption problem is fixed.

why is the nissan warranty not a true bumper to bumper warranty?

They have to prove ur aftermarket parts caused the dmg. The problem is its easy for them to say no. Its like medical insurance they say no u give up 75% of the time or jump thru hoops and get them to pay for it. Either way what do they have to lose. I have a degree in mechinal engineering and actually testified at a friends case (brother was lawyer so free trial for him more or less) when they said his CAI cause his engine to seize up at 6700 miles in his evo.
