Default You have $10,000 ... what would you do to your Z?

I'm having a tough time deciding on what I should do to my car FIRST. Well I guess I know what I want with the first $5 grand, but what about the other stuff? Here is what I want:

1. A light set of wheels (probably Volks) and tires (~$3,000).
2. Nismo S-Tune suspension (~$2,000 installed).

I was also thinking of borla exhaust ... what would you guys/girls do? I'm not into the body kits and such, just trying to make my car look sleek & sexy!

Thanks.

Skyline engine swap. (Unless that's not enough)
In that case Rims, suspension, kit, intake, exhaust

You did not give a time line on spending 10K. Here is my suggestions: New mods are coming out all the time since this is a new car. I would go for things in this order:

1. Buy wheels and tires first. You have a wide selection and it will improve the appearance and handling of your car.
2. Get suspension + Sway bars next. You got Eiback springs on the low end, Nismo S in the high-middle, then Tein or JIC coilovers on high end.
3. Get FI (TT or SC) later/last. Wait 6 months to see Greddy TT, ATI Procharger etc comparisons. Watch to see what problems occur with them before buying.

That is my 2 cents, hope it helps. Everyone has a different approach but that is mine.

That sounds about the path I was thinking of ... my timeline was something like a year to a year and a half. I think the wheels, tires, and suspension will hold me back for a while, maybe with a few other minor things as well ... time to start saving for the big stuff! (FI) ... only with a warranty though.

Default 10K

Balance & Blueprint then cryo the engine.

A Trans Am and a 350Z are like Mike Tyson and a Ballarina, both can dance.

Not really ... after the forged wheels, tires, and suspension, you are talking almost 6 grand right there (including installation.) Obviously this is for the top of the line stuff ... so my last 4 grand could go ... ? So many choices!!!!!!

Hmm, let me add it up for me:

1. HRE's with tires = about $4600
2. Stereo upgrade = $2300
3. Future Tein coilovers with EDFC = about $2000
4. Future sway bars = $500
4. Future FI 4 to 7K

Yep, I am way over budget using his 10K limit. Lets see, you could:

1. Buy Volks w/tires = about $3400
2. No stereo upgrade
3. Go with Eibach and sway bars with no camber alignment ($229) to cut cost or next step up, NISMO S suspension, add $1800
4. Buy ATI procharger, install it yourself at Avalons price of $5499.

Now we are just over 9K with good looking and well performing wheels and tires, lowered, handles better, and about 425hp at the crank/369 rwhp. You could get the ATI SC installed and tuned for maybe another 1K. Can you live with that or do you need to have those 2K big ft brakes?

Jeff

PS, I never looked at the Z as a 287 hp 30k car. From the start, I thought of it as a 40-45K car considering I knew I would spend that much and get over 400 hp at the crank, great handling knowing that with improved suspension and tires I would get about a .98 laterial grip.

I would use the 10k to pay off my Z.

Hey Zland that quote at the bottom of your sig just sums it up quite nicely ...

"Ouch, this is getting expensive!"

Yeah I can use that 10k to pay most of what I owe off, but that would be no fun. (It would be smart but it wouldn't be fun.) Oh well.

My plan:

Borla Exhaust
S-Tune Suspension
13" Front Brake Kit

Total: ~$5,000 installed

Additional Mods that I will probably never get:

Headers
Plenum
ECU

Depending on how often I can go to the track I will get:

Lightweight wheels and race tires
