you wont miss the VCD/TC unless you like hanging it out around corners... i dont have either of them and i dont have traction problems since the tire upgrade.

First , why would you feel bad , its made for that . Second , all leased cars are sold at auction.

Forget the 08 Base and get an 07 enthusiast.

I have an '03 Base and I love it. It is the lightest of all the Z models and carves up the corners beautifully. I don't miss the cruise cause I drive the car and haven't missed the lsd either. The base is an excellent car and really it comes closest to the philosopy of the original 240Z. It is a simple basic sports car that is fun to drive.

If you are not used to RWD, I would get a Base or a model with VDC. The LSD with no RWD experience, and no VDC, will bring the back end around under (a lot of) throttle. It's not that it can't happen in the Base and VDC models, it just takes more effort to do it.

Here is what happens when someone who is not used to the car gets into the throttle too heavy in a turn. ( I let a Miata driver try my Z on the track.... He took less than 10 seconds to spin it. Be careful when you first get your Z. If you can find an autocross or other controlled driving event to learn the limits of the car, go for it.

Thanks for showing me that, i didn't realize it could spin out so easily. Luckily i found 1 cheap 08 enthusiast so i will be getting all the control "helpers". Seems black on black enth. are rare in Houston. I wouldn't doubt if it was the same case in other cities.

Nothing outside of the 5/16" plenum and I/E. F/I is out of the question since I would like to build up to that much power of the course of a couple years. It's mostly just the thrill of owning the Z "name" and having an awesome looking car that I am after.

I was very worried about buying used since I do not know if the original owner "broke in" the engine with grace or if he just tore the crap out of it with the intent of selling after he/she got it out of his/her system. You just never know these days...

Anyway...... yea like the rest said a leftover 07 enthus is a great deal. Yes better resale value( marginally) in the end.... but they didnt change anything except add a different red color. You still have the same great HR engine. I'm 21 also, and would just advise, if this is your first rwd car... be smart with it, and be mature. I've had mine 6 months now, daily driver, almost 13k miles, I've had some fun in parking lots before, it was fun, but mainly a learning experience. It's not good to tear up tires, but you need to know how rwd is much different than fwd. I learned on this car and ive driven through plenty of rain, and icy conditions with low tread summer tires that are rock hard in winter, and im fine, you just have to respect the power it has and take it easy.

Dont get discouraged from some people's posts, youll find the "im getting a Z from parents" threads arent welcomed too warmly. My mother gave me the downpayment, I pay everything else, I see it as something to keep me motivated while in college. Good luck buddy, and be ready to commit to a 2 seater. Remember, only ONE person you can ever drive lol, your friends will fight over that seat. I love the attention though, friends hype up my car 100x more than I do lol.

We like that you like Zs, but considering that you said your dad is tight and your getting a Z, you should make a better choice. The Z is very impractical car for a student especially when you need to carry friends or classmates. And when you need to sell it, depreciation will make you grouchy. If you have to get a Z despite some issues, get an '07 Enthusiast for the same price of an '08 Base.

Why is everyone hating on him gettin a Z for christmas?? I got one for christmas.. Brand new 08 base.. Granted I DID buy it myself for christmas lol. So I guess thats a bit diff..

Also, In defense to him I coulda sworn he said HIS DAD said he wants to get him the Z but money is tight.. Meaning don't expect a Nismo Z or grand touring.. Something like that.. That he would probly havta get the base. It's nothin against the kid. It's what his dad said. Money can't be toooo tight if he said to get the base..

But in respect to your ques. Get the 08 base.. Unleeeesss the 07 is new and was never owned by anyone. Only because you don't want a used car. Especially and 07. Or any used for that matter. I learned this the hard way. You don't know why it was brought back. And you don't know whats done. ESPECIALLY a m/t.. You don't know clutch condition. Get the base and if you want. Buy alluminum pedals and you can get a better lsd then the stock one for cheap..
