Default Ugh Dealerships

I take my car into Nissan for the TSB regarding the clicking sound in the rear axle, they call me back and say its going to cost $190 to fix it... I told them the powertrain warranty should cover it and they say no, then I tell them I have a 10 year 70k mile extended warranty from Nissan and there still giving me a hard time.... Now I gotta wait for them to call back to see if my extended warranty will cover it...

Are some of these Nissan dealerships just dumb or is this something they do on purpose to see if they can get the customer to pay out of pocket?

Did you tell them when you dropped off the car that it had an extended warranty?

i thought TSB was like... the manufacturer found something wrong so they should fix it free like a recall?

Nope, a TSB is not a recall. A TSB is an advisory informing dealers of problems or possible problems - how to spot them, fix them, etc.

i had the same issue with my 05, the dealer fixed it no charge while still under warranty. i think it depends which dealer or service manager you talk with.

i went in the dealer with print outs of the tsb, and they confirmed it was the prob and fixed it fast. i think if rolled in to the dealer not really having a clue what was wrong they may have tried to hose me- who knows, alot of people get ripped at all kinds of car dealers

Dumb is an overstatement.

Here's what your manual says about the Powertrain Coverage:
ENGINE
Cylinder heads and block and all internal parts, rocker
covers and oil pan, valve train and front cover, timing chain
and tensioner, oil pump, water pump and fuel pump, fuel
injectors, intake and exhaust manifolds and supercharger,
flywheel, seals, and gaskets.
TRANSMISSION AND TRANSAXLE
Case and all internal parts, torque converter and converter
housing, automatic transmission control module, transfer
case and all internal parts, seals and gaskets, clutch cover
and housing, and electronic transmission controls.
DRIVETRAIN
Drive shafts, final drive housing and all internal parts,
propeller shafts, universal joints, bearings, seals and gaskets.
If the repairs done under the TSB involve parts not listed above, then no it won't be covered by the PT warranty.

I didn't mention it until they called me, because I thought it was covered by powertrain warranty.... either way my extended warranty should cover it or there be hell to pay being there the ones who sold me the extended warranty in the first place...

I'm sure it will work out tho, it's just kind of irritating....

I just had some work done on my FX35 yesterday and I have to say its day and night in how Nissan treats you and how Infiniti treats you... Not to mention you get a courtesy car for just about anything..... Nissan don't give you jack..

youre security plus service contract provides rental car reimbursement if the defective component is covered under the service contract. security plus just like any other service contract provider offers several levels of coverage. nissan dealership would love to have service contract claims because that is sure money and they know that the service bill will be paid.

Picked up my car today, after arguing with the dealership for a day the end result was that the powertrain warranty did cover the axle clicking....

So if anybody finds themselves in the same position as me, Nissan Powertrain Warranty which I believe is 5 years / 60k miles, does cover the axle clicking, so make sure the dealership your dealing with doesn't try and charge you for it.
