Question Got delivery date... do I wait??

So i got a call from my car dealer yesterday. He said I am confirmed for delivery NOVEMBER 30th. I knew that a delivery that late was possible, but I was hoping it would be October (as the dealer told me when I ordered).

So here is what I'm thinking now. Living in Chicago, December would be a very painful time to get this car. Most likely I would get the car and then store it until spring.

I have also heard that the convertable is coming out this coming SPRING...

IF I could get a convertable in March or later, should I get my $500 deposit back and wait.

Will it be HARDER to get the Z I want (color options convertable, etc) in the spring w/out the pre-order program???

Will I pay over MSRP?

Lots of questions... No real answers I'm sure... but any info or opinions I can gather from this esteemed group of Z enthusiasts will be greatly appreciated.

When my dealer (second dealer actually) called me, they told me the delivery day is Sept 4th. Originally they had told me Sept 30th. It's been moved up a month. Maybe that will happen with you as well.

I wouldn't let the timing influence my choice of a coupe versus a convertable. Each has different appeal and I would opt for the one that would be most satisfying in the long run. For me that's the coupe (should be more rigid and I generally prefer the styling of a couple to that of a covertable.

Obviously, nobody can give a 100% accurate reply. More importantly, this is a subjective decision. Don't buy the Z on what we all think. Buy it on what you want. If you want the convertible, then wait... but only for that reason.

Our local dealers here are part of the AutoNation plan. You NEVER pay over MSRP. You also NEVER pay less than MSRP.

...but yes, wait.

Star Nissan in Niles. They have been very very good to me, unlike my other dealer.

I went with with Gerald nissan.

-- yes it is very subjective, and I was just hoping for opinion I guess.

To put a finer point on it. I guess I'm wondering if I should just wait PERIOD.

I'm thinking that coupe or convertable... it might be better to wait until the spring instead of getting a car in december that I will rarely get to enjoy until spring.

If in the spring I dont like the look of convertable, I just get a coupe from a dealer showroom.

thanks

Since it looks like a few Chicagoland members are starting to get estimated delivery dates from their dealers, I'm curious...

Did anyone that ordered from Continental Nissan hear an estimated delivery date yet? Last I heard was that I had an August build date, but no news on delivery or VIN yet.

Here's hoping we all take delivery in time to break in our Z's before the snow starts!

I just got the date, no VIN or anything else.

I'll have to call them back (it was just a message in my voice mail).

I guess I want to figure out what I'm going to do before i call.

If I get it in December as i was told, I'm not sure I'd be able to break it in before the salt hits the ground

That sept. 4th date is seriously generic.
