Hello

If you had to get a 350 z would get the first series or the second series ?

Any reasons for the selection ?

series? if u wanna categorize them then the 03-05 is the older models and the 06-08 is the newer model. 07-08 has the hump on the hood and the HR motor which is a big difference from the 03-06 DE motor. although the 35th anniversary and the 06 Z does have the REV-up motor but its not a big difference from the regular DE motors, jus a higher rpm and 13 more hp but u get less torque. my opinion is to get the newer models 07-08 becuz the older models have more problems than the newer ones.

Id say take the older model... and save ur self some $$$

a couple of bolt-ons with the money u saved should compensate for the power, and even after the mods, ull have spare $$$ in wallet if u go for the older models...

I would get the first series. The second series has a lot of back pressure.

Refined = adding 200lbs. You can't beat the 2005.

true, i am pissed a little about the extra weight, but as far as 1/4 times go the best completly stock car place holder isnt a 05 (not trying to hate if it sounded that way)

and its more like 140lbs

05=3188lbs
07=3328lbs

i would get 2nd series.
all of the kids buy the first series and some of them RICE it up like nuts.
2nd series looks a little tougher (slightly) and you get a free hump on the hood with more horsepower.

what is all this SERIES talk? Its not a bimmer forum, lmao!!!

Of course everyone would go for newer model, at least for me. I dont care of 140+extra weight since Im not racing it anyway.

Climate/conditions have a HUGE impact on 1/4 times. So, unless you're comparing side-by-side runs, the list you're looking at is worthless. Note: Go to Home Depot, and put four 40lb bags of Top Soil in the trunk of your current car. Q.E.D.

I'd go for the HR "series". You can get cams, I/H/E & a tune on a DE and barely make more power than the HR. You also will lose warranty by doing this, and who knows what will happen to reliability if your tuner doesn't know WTF he's doing. The HR motor is so good, that the Nismo 350Z does no upgrades. All you really need is exhaust (not headers). That single piping isn't enough for the HR. And when you go TD exhaust on a DE, you don't get any better power than a single.
Brakes (the non-brembo kind) on the HR "series" are also better.
OEM tire selection is among the finest in the HR series. The Potenza 050A is waaayyy better than the 040, and it was designed for cars with camber.
The only thing I'm saddened by the HR "series" 350Z is that it comes with the same 3.5 fd, and not a 3.7 like the G35 sedan. Man, that sedan hauls @$$ completely destroying the Cadillac CTS competition. Why Nissan, whyyyy????!!!! A simple call to Z1 Performance or Performance Nissan should fix that tho.

climate conditions do affect times. As for side by side runs, i have seen plenty of Zs at my local track and no completly stock DEs break 14sec

And why would the times be worthless? they show verified times, the best accomplished times for different year Zs, stock, turbo, na, super charged etc. It is a testament of whats possible and what people have acheived.

Hello

How does one check out a second hand Z ?

How do know that it has been raced ?

How important is it to have the whole service book filled in properly ?

What would you look for in a second car that would make you walk away or buy it ?
