Well I had the VR-4 for about 5 months and now I have sold it in hopes of getting the 350ZR or the STi. I have always loved the 350Z so I am pretty much set on it.

The VR-4 is getting picked up by a buyer from St. Louis. He is flying in Saturday. I can't wait to start shopping for a ZR. Just need to test drive one first to make sure thats it. My wife is going to make me keep the car for a long time!

Just to get around town and have some spirited drives I don't think I am going feel a big difference from the S2K to the ZR. From what everyone has been saying the ZR will the be the better DD. One thing I will enjoy is the better low end torque. I didn't mind revving the crap out of the S like it was meant to be but it just felt like I was putting more work on the engine to do it. If you didn't give it some gas it just didn't give the fun factor they were meant for.

but see i think that was what honda was intending. .as a DD the s2k is easy going for driving around towns at low speeds. .and when you needed it the power was there when slamming on the gas at around 5000 rpms is when vtec kicks in anyway. .so in other words i think most people were jamming the gas all the damn time when driving the s2k!

I had an AP1 which vtec didn't kick in until around 6100. But a plus to this was that the redline was not at 8K it was 9K in the earlier models. It probably evens itself out in the later models with vtec kicking in earlier.

I agree, people want performance when vtec isnt engaged, it just isnt there, its not supposed to be. From my experiance having the H22a (newest prelude motor), it felt like two different motors in, and out of vtec, and thats how it was designed. vtec kicking in is a thing of the past now anyway, old technology. The newer ivtec motors, have continously changing the valve lift based on throtal position etc, so its not like an on off switch. I havent driven one, but maybe that will make the whole waiting for vtec to be fast old news???

**ivtec was released after they stopped producing the S

i'll tell you one thing other day some punk brought his new civic in for a clutch job with only 6k on it. (had to teach him how to drive) we put a new clutch in, and i took it for a ride and i was amazed at how responsive and quick it was. so im guessing the S2k CR's pretty tight. . .

I wish the motor could be in vtec all the time lol. That would make my decision a lot easier.
But in all reality it won't be so thats why I'm on this forum. I just think the more available all time torque curve is what I really want. I just didn't the excited from even the twin turbo that the roadster gave.

I found a ZR about 6 hours away I might get serious about buying if I can find one local and give it a good test. This ZR is a touring with everything and NAV. It is an 04, has 23K miles and they want 22,900 for it. I think I could talk them down a little. What do you guys think? It is a silverstone like I wanted.

Well I will be able to afford it with the down payment we will get from my wifes accord. It won't be much but we want around 3500-4000K from the Accord.

I am pretty excited. I never told my wife her car is coming in the Saturday so she has no idea. We have been waiting for the shipper to get assigned for about a week. Once she get the Nitro the accord will be gone and ZR or STi will be in the garage.

all i can say is i sold my s2000 (owned it for 4 years) for a ZR. and i think it was a good decision. i loved my S and still do, great car, but i also love my ZR. now im sure im going to get bashed for this but i really didnt find the Z to be an exciting ride at all stock. of course i did drive a S2000 for 4 years and redlined the **** out it everytime i drove. but thats why i waiting and found a nice, professionally built supercharged 350ZR. night and day! all in all i think the 350 is a better, more solid car with more potential. basically i think either way u go u wont be disappointed. at least ure on the right track, convertable!

you know there is such a thing as a Vtec controller. ..i believe it can allow you to set what rpm vtec will kick in. .if im wrong im sure i'll be corrected shortly. .but i think thats what it does as a feature. . .

That and you can only lower it a whoppin 1000 RPMS. That helps but it also has to be dyno tuned and the gains might not be worth the buck. I had one in my S2K but the guy before never got it tuned. I just had it pulled and sold it.

Okay I found an even better deal. I found an 04. It it silverstone, has the burnt orange with black inserts, NAV and everything else. They want 20500 and it has 29K miles. Are the miles and price good?
