Default Warranty Transfer

Hello I am looking at a 2004 ZR. It currently has 29,500 miles. I know the bumper to bumper is expired. With me being the third owner of this vehicle will the powertrain warranty transfer?

Will the other warranties still be good?

Yes, the factory warranty stays with the car no matter how many owners. Unless it has a salvaged title or some other oddball exception, you should be good.

What Dave said.

If there's an aftermarket extended warranty, I do believe you have to transfer it to you in order for it to be in place. What I think I remember is that aftermarket extended warranties do not automatically go with the car. Probably because the warranty company doesn't want you to remember that you have it, or bother to do the paperwork, so they don't have to pay any claims.

Great news, the car has a clean title so everything should transfer just fine then. I will find out tomorrow if I will be a new ZR owner. It is Silverstone with burnt orange/black seats with NAV. I am pretty excited. I will have to post up tomorrow.

Thanks

Since he mentioned powertrain warranty, I'm assuming he's not talking about a 3rd party extended warranty. If the previous two owners didn't do the transfer, then he'd be out of it too.

I was just asking about the basic warranties. Not the extended ones. Isn't the basic powertrain 60,000 or 5 years?

Correct. Do you have a warranty book? Drop by your Nissan dealer and pick one up.

I don't have any type of warranty book. If I do end up getting the car I will be sure to pick one up. We do have a nissan dealer here so I could also get one from them.

Dealers never seem to have any of the books that come with the Z. Check online on the Nissan site in the Owners section. You can download PDF versions of just about anything that came with the car originally.
