Default VDC on or off

Ok before I get into the story I searched for the why and think I got a handle on understanding buy still want opinions. Today a group of us were traveling at a fast clip to the Tail of the Dragon and the car in front of me slows down like he is going to stop in the road. At first I was thinking he was wanting to change order but that didn't really fit his personality. Anyway I went around as we were not really in a place where all 9 of us could stop. It turns out that he says the VDC shut down his G35. Now I have a ZR roadster and was travelling at the same pace with out even lighting the TCS.

So my concern is when I go up there in my other car which has VDC is this something that is a fluke of a bad corner angle (driver error) , bad tire sizes, combibation of the two or is it something else. I can cope with the car shutting power but not turning the car off. No steering and Brakes on the dragon can mean a real bad headache. I of course have made the VDC kick on and most times never really think about it being there. On the other hand, when I take this car to the Dragon which is a very twisty road, can I drive this car like I drive the ZR with little concern for VDC. If you must flame go ahead as long as you give me your opinion on using the VDC in aggressive driving.

i turn the VDC off as soon as i crank my car, as long as you don't take the course faster than you are comfortable with you'll be fine with it off

VDC doesn't shut anything down. Normally it applies brakes to a corner of the car to help correct a potential instability problem. It's happens so fast, it's almost unnoticable, especially to those outside the vehicle.

You mention "bad tire sizes". That's a pretty common cause of VDC/TCS activation. TCS is more intrusive as it pulls power for a second or two.

It definitely doesn't cut the car off - not to the point of stopping the car or killing the engine.

+1

Your buddy is blowing smoke up your @ss or the car went into limp mode. Just push the VDC button when you crank the car up.

Nope!

VDC and ESC systems seem to be an increasingly popular thing to blame for poor driving and/or operator error.

If I ever get pulled over for any moving violation, I'm blaming my VDC
