Any other unprivileged 350z Owners?
So I was thinking about this as I was just looking through the forums today. Members referring other members to check out what the exhaust sounds like ' In person, opposed to just a video, and there is several people in their area who have exhaust on there 350s which they can get an idea off of if they like it or not. This even relates to looking at different rims in person.
Which now brings me to my point, there isnt many 350s in my city (Not a very big place 250,000ppl) And with the lack of 350s already, there is not One I have seen in the city with any kinds of mods. Therefore, I have never heard an aftermarket exhaust in person on a 350, nor have i been priviledged enough to see a nice set of volks on the car. Is anyone else in a similar position as I am in, It SUCKS!! Im going to say theres about 7-10 in the city, and the owners are all around 40 years old and arent really big car enthusiasts, I, 22 years old have no one to relate to in this 350z scene in my city.

I can sympathize with you. When I bought my Z, I was one of the first in my area and nobody else had any mods so I had no way of telling what a NISMO exhaust was going to sound like. Sound clips don't do it justice.
Your best bet it to attend regional events like the National Z convention, or something like the West Coast Nationals:

I have one of the rare Z's in my area. When it comes to mods I believe in being an inovator. Your car will reflect your personality. Be a leader, not a follower. A good sounding exhaust? A well known brand name should speak for itself. Borla, Injen, Skunk 2, a true dual exhaust. It's not just about sound, how about power?

when i first got my 350z (and even before) i rarely saw any Zs. It was always such a shock to see a Z driving down. But for some reason now i see alot more Zs. Maybe it was just because i wasnt paying attention when i didnt have one

I'm currently in the panhandle of texas and there arent many z's up here. Mostly trucks and mustangs. I get to go down to houston for my vacation twice a year and usually get to go out 1 night of it to go see the scene.
So I do get a chance so to say to hear different exhaust but not many. Lot of z drivers ive seen in houston are a step away from being total tools. Usually dont know jack about cars and bought the z cuase it looked pretty. I met a few decent z owners but eh wasnt impressed so far.
Anyway I use the sound clips on youtube and such to get an idea of how the exhuast sounds. People make the mistake of hearing a clip and saying thats perfect and buy it and its not what they want. I listen for different things ..
Is there rasp.
Does it ring.
Is it more muffled or high pitched.
Does it pop or rumble.
Get these basic ideas and search through em then go ask in forums of in car noise and wot and the such. Remember though even if some people are not happy with thier purchase they will most likely defend it to the point of a fanboy spokesperson for the company.
So go check out some youtube clips, get an idea for the sounds and tones your looking for. Note exuast that did sound decent and ask more specific questions about it.

Where I live the few Z cars I do see are heavily modded and the owners make sure they act snobby towards you and make you feel like crap. Luckily there is a 2 day track event sponsored by 1 of the local infiniti dealers here, some of the crew from Denver come out. These folks are both friendly and knowledgable, can't wait to see em again this year now that I have been modding my Z car also. Never hurts when 1 of those people is the editor of NISSAN Sport Magazine.

That's because there is NOTHING in the panhandle of Texas.
Same here in Kansas. There are counties out west the size of Rhode Island that have a population less than that live in the 2 blocks around my house.
I've driven out west in my Z, rolled into a small town, and they stare at you like an UFO just landed.

Actually I am the ONLY person in my town that has a Z. There is one guy in the next county that has one... same color as mine but his is an '06. I feel this mans pain. I have never seen in person a Z with aftermarket wheels, body kit, wing... etc.

Yeah... I had the same problem, I listened to alot of Youtube videos. To narrow you choice, you first need to decide true dual or not (i.e. y-pipe). I finally went with true duals - Fast Intentions Intimidators exhaust. BTW - 400 miles later... I love them!

I have the Injen dual exhaust. A little loud for the wife, but perfect for me. Has that low rumble growl, not raspy. I'm working on having the best modded Z in my area. Got my wheels in today. Axis shine, 20x10/275/30/20 rear and 19x8.5/245/35/19 front. Will be badass!
