STi owner asked did I buy the 350Z just for its looks?

sadly there are people who buy the car for how it looks. there are people who buy an STi because they rally race it. there are people who buy high end cars for the label.
then there are people who buy the car expecting something because of the name attached to it. the STi because of the specs and how fast it should be, the merc for the luxury expected of it.
I bought the Z without driving it because I knew it would be fantastic from the magazine reviews and the heritage. there wasn't a previous Z I didn't like. and it was dead sexy!

I love Subaru. Had a WRX before the Z, and was going to buy an STI the week I test drove the Z. I was all ready to pick up an STI, and one of those random impulses popped into my head that I should probably go test drive something else just so I was positive about my decision. Within 30 seconds of sitting in the Z, I knew I was going home with it. My next car may still be an STI, I guess we'll see how I feel when the time comes. But like others said, I pull away from STI's on the highway. My friend with an 05 STI w/turbo back exhaust and a tune consistantly will get pulled on by me. From a stand still though, nothing beats the feeling of an AWD launch.

ITs not as cut and dry and some people would like to think.

Before getting the Z i test drove an STI. They were damn quick to give the keys so what the hell. I was very impressed with the launching capabilities and i couldn't even drive it like it should have been. The car was fast no doubt about it. The reason i chose the Z was because it didn't look like a 16year olds car riced out with a big wing and a rediculous hood. Catch them on the interstate as said before, from 70 they learn something new.

hahahah that borat clip is a classic!!
Anyways stis and evos are respectable cars but i love the Z's looks so much better. It just seems like a classier car compared to the riced out stis and evos.

no one care to compare the Z to the evo in performance, only the sti? hmm
i specifically wanted a rwd sprots car so it would go sideways easy, you know, not needing the hand brake to do a donut. I'm seriously considering the evo x for the next ride, the drivetrain on that thing is crazy. ayc, asc, and acd huh?

I am big on performance and respect the STI and the Lancer evo for what they are, but they look tacky imo.
Plus, as good as those cars may perform, their owners must admit one thing: It is not possible to call them real sports cars. They are cheap economy 4 door cars that are souped up. Period.

The evo and the sti/wrx look like toy hyundai cars from yester-year. I can't even say Hyundai today, because Hyundai has really improved the past couple years. Maybe the new models are a tad bit better, but why can't they put a nice body on all that technology? Is it really that hard to mold some body panels?
I mean even if you don't have creative talent, just copy something like this:

I used to HATE Z's!!! Thought they were ugly, overpriced and were only about image. Then my (now ex) bought one. A 6 spd and she had never driven a m/t before. I was PISSED OFF! Not only was this thing going to sit in my garage taking up space for my bikes, but I was gonna have to teach her to drive it. 3 years later.......... I've owned 2 now!
