Double the speed limit in Texas gets you that. And since I was in a 80 mph zone, double that is 160. :P

It isn't limited by gearing. But the DE was limited by engine output where the HR helps.
The DE is not limited by engine output.

All stock 350z's are ELECTRONICALLY LIMITED. There should be a bit of power left, and plenty of gearing. I've seen my speed limiter enough to know what I'm talking about...

It does have a speed limiter, but it doesn't have the power of the HR to get that high without a speed limiter. I had a DE and it could hit 150s but it was pretty much a crawl after that.

So yes the DE is limited by engine output and RPM if you have no speed limiter. The DE has a lower RPM redline, and less power to the wheels.

The DE is electronically limited to 159. It will reach that speed and hold it up and down hills.

Edit - I think I can understand what you're trying to say now. Without the limiters, yes, the HR will reach a higher speed.

One would assume that's common sense.

the power to get that high.,i think the top end design of the revup would have no problem getting to a decent speed without a rev limiter.

It may, but it just doesn't have the pull like the HR does.

I hit about 110 on a turnpike today in 6th gear at about 4,000 rpms... i dont see it going more than 140mph without putting your car in the redline.

I would do some research then before making a post like you did. It shows ignorance in ragards to the capabilities of your car.

Default 1 mile an hour

I can't believe there is a fire fight over 1 mph. I had this arguement back in 2004. Noone believed me when I said I hit 158 in my G. Some magazne had the top speed limit at 142....others 155.

I think +/- 1-3 mph is within tolerance.

Actually RPMS at 160 mph in 5th gear is around 7200 rpms. We still had 300 rpms till 7500.

The DE on the other hand hits redline at around 7200~ for the rev-up.

When I did my run I was in 5th gear at 160 mph.

The reason why I remember, is because my shift light is set at 7200 and it kicks on right when I hit it, even in my videos. hehe.

really thats relative by all means a HRs reaching to 160 is no feat of enginerring and not that much of an improvement to get a award from a revup from what i seen lmao.

I find it funny ...anyone care to do a 0-160 times lmao. .....guarenteed not that serious lmao

Actually, the DE only goes to around 6800 rpm max, if I remember right, maybe less. I had a 04 and a 05 G35. The 05 reved to 7200 rpm, the HR goes to 7500. The REV-UP is the only one that could reach that speed without shifting to 6th. And in 6th the car doesn't have the power to accelerate anyways.

in 6th you are still accelerating though. I also have driven all versions of the vq in the Z. the DE granted was the worst of the batch at top speeds with its curve literally dying uptop but to be honest with you between the revup up top and the HR at over 100 speeds the difference wasnt that pronounced as i hoped like lets say the g37 and the 3.7ltre engine which actually pulls really hard after 100= and you can feel the output of the engine come alive.

The 3.5 HR and the revup even though they both climb to the therotical top speed. Its not impressive to mention when compared to eachother or its competetion since most cars in this catagorey do reach the very same top speed.

But of course the HR has more power. But realize its power curve really makes its power lower int he rpm band aswell.
