you have been driving the z for 135k miles and for that long and now wondering if you should drive without pressing the clutch in?

wait a minute,
if you dont have the clutch down, you can still take it out of gear?
Wouldn't that be really hard?

not if you got the technique down. It's quite easy.

I never said that. I said, I have owned my Z since 02 and have been using the no clutch method for about 9 months. I cant make it anymore clearer.

Do not try it, if you dont know what you are doing. Most people say its bad for your synchro. However, if you still decide to do it. You can take it out of gear and put into the next gear at about 3500-4000 RPM. Itll go in and out real smooth.

In addition, this technique was used in the old days, when the trannys did not have synchros.

ok, so you been driving since 02 , even though you put over 100k miles on your z with the clutch presses, you haven't done so for the last 9 months but now wondering if it is harmful to the car?

[QUOTE=Motero]What do you guys think? Is it bad not using the clutch to shift into gears. I have been using this technique for months and its much smoother than using the clutch. I know most semi truck drivers use this method. What do you guys think?[/QUOTEw

dont use your clutch anymore everytme you shift.1st to 6th gear. you will gain more power and you should cut both of your feet..hehe you know thats a joke right unless you wanna take it seriously..

wow, good job. I can see your highschool comprehension skills came in handy. Yes you fully understood my thread. I used this technique back when trannys didnt have synchros, which was in the early 90. The reason for posting was to get some feedback from professional to see if the Synchros would obtain premature damage.

wouldn't it be smarter to ask people maybe the first week or before you did it that it would be harmful? why wait 9 months? Also, since this car does have synchros not like your old cars back in the 90s, maybe pressing int he clutch like you have for the first 100k miles? or you getting to old and weak?

If it's smooth it must be good.

It would come out to same amount, if i replaced the synchro's or if i replaced the clutch. No im not becoming too weak. It's just a different way of driveing a vehicle (Learned it may not be the smartest. however, i havent had a single issue for approx 15k miles.)

I pop my car into neutral w/o the clutch simply because I'm lazy, but that's it.

they put that third pedal on the left there for a reason, and trust me, it's not a leg exerciser.

If you think they only started putting synchros in during the 1990's, you do not have the comprehension skills to ingest feedback from professionals.

The thread title should have been "It Took Me several Years to Realize I Should Have Bought an Automatic"

We aren't discussing motorcycles.

Shifting without engaging your clutch WILL cause undue wear on your transmission (no matter how smooth you think it feels).

So continue patting yourself on the back, but consider this... Is replacing a clutch/flywheel cheaper than a tranny rebuild?
