In Arizona, most people have separate glass coverage with no deductible. I think you can get a free replacement once per year, and almost unlimited free repairs. The sad part is that we need that kind of coverage here. With all of the construction and what not, most people get a cracked windshield every year.

There are probably 30-40 glass companies here, most of which even offer free items if you use them (like Diamond Back tickets, Omaha steaks, etc.). Then they bill the hell out of your insurance company, often times resulting in an increased premium, or a letter from the insurance company stating the maximum reimbursement was paid, and the insured (driver) must pay the difference. It's not always easy to find a good, legitimate company in the Phoenix area.

They even have some really sleazy glass companies standing outside the car wash trying to offer "free/no insurance" replacements. They either ask you for your insurance information (just in case -- and bill them anyway) or take down your license plate & VIN number, then attach a lien on your car if they can't get any money out of your insurance. What a scam!
