How do you get in your house, honk the horn until your mom opens the door for you?

 

I was told once that the more keys someone carries, the less important there actually are.

Z key, house key, fob are all you need. Not to mention all that other crap swings back and forth scraping up the plastic around it.

 

 

i'd be more annoyed at all the keys banging into each other or the dash...possibly scratching the dash

 

i have my house keys on one rig my z key+fob on another a lonely motorcycle key and a ring with a key for the other motorcycle and my moms house, when i leave i grab the house key and whatever other key i need, when it is the z even that feels like to much in my pocket

The saying you're referring to is actually the opposite of that. lol

Who gives a hoohah... No your keys will not mess up the ignition (lol!) and no they won't bend the key (rofl).

I guess it's 1 of those myths that goes from generation to generation...Is there a true blue mechanic (specifically, an auto electricity one), in these threads, to bust this myth, or to ascertain it?!

 

Heck, the way I drive the steering wheel column would be all nicked up from the keys banging around. I can't stand the jinging sound either. It drives me nuts when the stereo is off. I like to listen to the engine so I play the radio at low volume or not at all a lot.

Here is an idea for you guys. You can buy additional heavy duty but, small clasps for your keychains like I have. It makes life so much easier. This is how I solved this problem.

Though, the weight wouldn't present a problem; it's a lot quietier driving with just the ignition key in. Plus, when I leave the motorhome I can lock the keys up in the motorhomes safe and just take the door's deadbolt key. Then I can go hiking or mountain biking etc ... without all those keys the way I have everything segmented out.

What can I say? I'm a Project Manager ... we organize things. ;-)

Just thought this might make it a bit easier to deal with.

 

i do the same thing. ive got 3 fobs. but i keep them on seperate chains. and just pick up the fob for whatever car i happen to be driving that day.

You think I would learn and keep a house key just in case, but nope..... Im an idiot.


Me driving home = , Me pushing homelink for the first time = , Me pushing home link for the second time = , then a sit around for a min = . Then I punch myself in the groin.

 

I do tend to collect a lot of crap, I'm a guy but quite superstitious so I have a lot of weird stuff on it.

It's not that bad, and I've never had any issues. I don't notice it banging on the steering column either...

I call bollocks.

 

My grandfather used to keep entirely too many keys on his keyring. One day he was driving his RV and hit a decent sized bump. The key broke off in the ignition. I'm sure that different keys might be stronger or weaker, but the fact is there is a limit as to how much weight your key can support. I don't think 13 keys and a few keyfobs would be enough to break the Nissan key though, so you should be all set.

 

I have never had my keys touch the column and the only time I hear them make noise is if I hit a pot hole the size of the Grand Canyon. Believe me if they were rubbing on the column I would have the car key on a quick disconnect.
